In case I ctb I would like to leave things in order for my family.
All that comes to mind right now is a will.
Is there anything else that is worth considering to make things easy for those I leave behind?
Thank you

In addition to my will, I made an "instructions" sheet where I listed account passwords, any special requests for some of my belongings, expenses they might have to pay, etc., and I included the form they'll have to fill out for the death of a tenant.

Prepaid funeral arrangements if possible, clearing up and packing your stuff. Throwing away what needs be and labeling Instructions of what to do with the rest.

When you say account passwords are you referring to bank accounts too?
Or just emails and whatnot

Not my pin number but my online bank logins, yes, though I'm not sure if they will need it.

- delete everything you want in your mobile and then use the app SECURE ERASE
- make prepaid funeral arrengements and give the concierge funeral' contact and contract # to your family
- clothes for your funeral or cremation already cleaned and organized
- a clear concise and objective letter to the police + letter to the family. Put your reasons and state that its not your family fault and there is nothing that could be done to change your decision. Also make it clear that CTB is your responsabilty and nobody else assisted you.
You want the investigation to be concluded asap and smoothly after you CTB
- living will
- scheduled money transfer to your family account
- remember: funeral is for your family not for you, so leave the option open regarding this cerimony and let them decide
- close all your accounts specially bank account before CTB : you dont want to make your old mom having to deal with all hassle. In case is not posible to close a specifx account, just fill up the forms in advance and organize the documents to your family leaving detailed instruction on how to proceed after your death (leave detailed instructions, e.g. "contact this person phone number Xxxxxx and send him this document X and Y".
- organize all your documents and put in a folder
- donate all your bellonings, you dont want your old mom dealing with loads of your personal clothes and other stuffs
- Program gmail and facebook/instagram "heritage feature" and autorize your family, so your family can handle all your social media account after your death
- choose the correct location for your CTB, you can greatly reduce family trauma if you choose to die in a chain hotel room and not in their house.

Its a lot of stuff, a good CTB project requires a full time project management + 1 analist + 1 intern if you want it fast, effective and clean. Lol

Thank you for your thorough response.
So the app you mentioned will not allow anyone to recover information from my phone?
I initially thought to try and throw it in the sea or somewhere as I understand prolonged exposure to water completely damages the phone.

If you just trhrow you phone it will raise suspicion and you dont want a long investigation process.

The more transparent is your death process and your CTB, the faster the investigation will be.Just delete the porn, nasty messages etc and leave the rest open and available for police and family so They will probably ignore and move forward to close your death case.

This is a great thread. Also, those of us that plan to CTB overseas, should we instruct family to call the embassy? Who will be able to give them a Death Certificate? Family doesn't speak the language.

I somehow assume that will be a more complicated process. It's probably down to legislation in each country around establishing cause of that. But I guess in any case clear evidence should make things easier.
Probably also to consider costs of repatriation, depending on your wishes.

I will tell my parents in my will don't even think about repatriation. They already poor. I want to be cremated and left in the specific country without flying my ashes around the world. however it is not clear to me who will pay for cremation, who will notify my parents, the embassy? I would like to make things easy for them but they don't speak any languages, they don't do online banking (in case they need to pay for overseas cremation), they have no credit cards, they are poor and elderly. I just don't know how to make it easier for them

I think you might be able to stipulate this specific situations in a will, especially if you travel often or something.
Yes, usually embassies are the ones communicating these things but probably not directly to your family but some other authority in the country you live and then that authority would contact your parents. I assume then this authorities (police or health mainly)can offer interpretation services?
And in terms of finances you can name someone as your lasting power of attorney to complete all the money related stuff?
I don't know really properly an actual lawyer could be best at advising you.

Thank you. The question is what exactly say to the lawyer. Unfortunately CTB is not covered under lawyer client confidentiality so I guess I would need to say I have terminal cancer or something.

@Esokabat yeah something along those lines, I don't think they would ask for proof, would they?

I don't know, I have not really dealt with lawyers. I might post this question as a separate thread… can I pretend to have terminal cancer during the making of the will, power of attorney, etc without providing medical proof of my condition? Also, almost everyone I know who had cancer got extremely skinny in the terminal phase and
I am not skinny and I look healthy so I am not sure how this will go. Maybe I can get it done remotely.

@Esokabat you could name a trusted friend to be your power of attorney, no proof of anything required

Unfortunately I am an autistic woman in my 40s and I have no friends at all. I also do not have any family or relatives in the country I live in. My parents live in a different country and don't speak the language, cannot travel, I am completely on my own. On most days I don't see any other human being and don't talk to anyone ( unless remotely at work). There is statistics that high IQ autistic females CTB in much higher percentage than any other layer of society and honestly I am not suprised. Both high IQ and autism will make you relate to others more difficult but the two combined is a disaster. It seems that this combination (autism with high IQ) works out better for men for some reason. In summary, I am completely isolated, I don't have any help. It will have to be a lawyer.
And I cannot really lie at all so telling a lawyer about my terminal cancer condition will not be easy
