Valuable to whom? Ourselves? The people who know us? Does that even count?
Everyone has personal things that are important to them and no one else. Your old baseball mitt from little league might be priceless to you, but I'm not going to declare it as valuable.
No doubt most people think their lives have merit. But there are also dummies who think they're intelligent and unfortunate looking souls who believe they're beautiful.
That's why I like the original question, "Do you see life as valuable, in general?"
By the end of the day, 200,000 people will have died. Was their existence valuable? Generally speaking, I'd guess not.
Most people aren't going to contribute anything of value to the planet. I'd be hard pressed to say their life is valuable just because they're here.
