Someone started a private conversation with me and was trying real hard to get me to give them my e mail so we could talk there. He as very vague and wouldn't give much info about himself, said he was a very private person yet didn't mind asking a lot of personal questions about me. I am vunerable right now as are most who are going to be CTB soon and it feels good to confide in others of like mind. But I think some on this site are just pretending to be CTB soon and just trying to get personal info for whatever their reasons may be. He disappeared and I haven't heard from him in days. I assume because I didn't give him my e mail and because he must have gleaned enough personal info from me. Just be careful is all. It really sucks that even on a suicide site you can't trust anyone :(

Yes, unfortunately, even here, there are scammers and predators who want to take advantage of us.

Some months ago, a guy talked to me in private for about 2 months and he seemed really nice! Then, he asked me for $3000 usd and when I said I didn't have that money, he started to become more annoying and tried to get my personal info. I guess he wanted to threaten me somehow so that I give him the money.

Anyway, I reported him with a mod (whom I showed him my conversation with this guy) and he hasn't been here since then. (I hope)

It is probably best to use this site as an anonymous website as that is the whole purpose of it, to express suicidal thoughts without being put in an psych ward.
Internet predators would choose this site in particular because people are vulnerable and can easily be manipulated etc.

Funny some people asked me but as my brother knows my name and avatar I don't tell anyone, plus I will not have a goodbye thread. You have to be careful everywhere my signature sums it up, lol.

You can set up an e-mail account easy you don't need to put any personal details in just create the e-mail address at Protonmail, but I only give it to people I talk to DM regularly and have a good rapport with.

Someone contacted me and said about WattsApp but I need to feel I know that person first, haha but even so that can't be traced back to me as well, lol.

Some don't even bother hiding it. You can spot them from what they post, "react" to, what they say, what they like/enjoy, what they're against/don't like/don't enjoy, how they act in specific situations and in general, etc. Some get high or an ego boost on making it obvious and thinking "I didn't even have to try to hide it and they still fell for it anyway". Or maybe they just don't care enough to try to hide it. Or maybe they're trying to hide it but are failing. Some try to hide it and succeed until it's too late for the victim(s).

I learned this the hard way. At first I was confused about what was happening because I've never been groomed and preyed upon before online. Well I know now that some people are not above trying to take advantage of suicidal people in the worst possible ways.
