Dear Admins

I would like to begin by saying how grateful I am for all your efforts in keeping this forum going. Your work does not go unnoticed, and the fruits of your labor are meaningful!

I am writing to suggest that you add a subforum entitled Philosophical Discussion.

There are nearly 30,000 posts on SS. The Suicide Discussion alone comprises 400 pages, while the Off Topic section has roughly 160 pages. It is getting increasingly difficult to navigate the forum, and to keep track of threads where suicide is discussed from an abstract, philosophical perspective, as oppossed to an experience-based point of view.

Suicide is a philosophical question by excellence, and that is why I believe philosophy should be given its own arena.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this message, and I once again would like to express my gratitude for your hard work.

Your sincerely
Epsilon0

Seconded (thirded?). Good idea. Weirdly, philosophical debate can actually get very heated when egos get involved so we'd have to be careful and have some rules.

The problems seems to be people cross arguing which doesn't work with the serial format of a thread very well.

I support this idea, having philosophical discussions in regards to suicide as a another subforum/subsection would be good since it separates the general discussion of suicide (general stuff, methods, and what not) from the philosophical (deep and thoughtful topics) threads regarding the topic of suicide.

I support philosophical discussion; it's important to have as many perspectives as possible. Cue En Vogue's 'Free Your Mind':

I have thought about this and I agree, a subforum "Politics and Philosophy of Suicide" would be pretty useful, since the Misc is too mixed up with goodbye threads, venting, philosophical discussions and method discussion. These threads are certainly not offtopic and have nothing to do with recovery either.
