A family member committed suicide. She tried for years to "get better". When she ctb, the rest of our family called her selfish. I think they did so to absolve them of their guilt. They said she was crazy behind her back and made excuses to stay away from her. It was selfish of my family to want her to stay, so they didn't have to feel guilt about their own actions or worry how the suicide "reflected" on our family. There was even a discussion about whether or not we would tell the truth about her death. All I could think about was how she was no longer in pain, mentally. Also, I believe she was trying to avoid being a burden to our family. Selfless.
