I wanted to use SN, but I couldn't get all the stuff so I was wondering about partial hanging. Does anyone know if it has a high success rate and what the logistics are? Thanks.

I just want to share my experience but you'll probably have better luck than me. All I had was a scarf or sheets on hand, and a strong shower door the one with sliding glass doors, I tied it to the metal bar. I had that hanging up there for 8 months. I tried and tried, almost daily. I had to put a thick blanket on the ground because it was uncomfortable. All I could do was compress my jugular, no matter what I did I couldn't get my carotid arteries. My face and eyes would bulge out of my face felt like I was exploding and no sign of passing out. I'm not sure but I was 100 lbs anorexic at the time, so maybe that had something to do with it. I've since gained almost 60 lbs so I'm not sure if it it'll work if I tried again.

It takes less pressure to compress the jugular vein than it does to compress the carotid artery. A lot of experiences of pain and panic come from not enough pressure to compress the carotid artery. So it is better to suddenly apply a lot of pressure instead of easing into it. There are different opinions about rope placement whether above or below the adam's apple and position of the body (standing, lying, kneeling/sitting) so there is some guesswork about that and everyone's anatomy is going to be slightly different. If done correctly one should pass out in seconds. Practice makes perfect.

Thanks. Are there any specific types of rope I should be using? Also how do you test to find your carotid artery? And what position has the highest fatality level?

I think I remember putting my 1 hand opened between thumb and forefinger, and placing around the front of my neck and pressing it and letting my neck push down towards my hand... thats probably wrong though honestly it's been 5 years since, I got most of my info from lostallhope I think (I didn't check back since), there's lots of resources on here that'll point you to the right places, just do a search :halo:

Find the "Sweet Spot" for the carotid artery for some people is a bitch.
Some find it one tme and then can't find it again. That's why i ditched this method. It did not seem to be reliable in my tests.

Have you checked out the resource pages for info?

It's pretty easy to get, but I'm too scared.

It seems you haven't yet quite succeeded.

That's right, but I also haven't attempted much. That will change soon as my time is approaching. I'm confident that I can make it work.

If you are looking to avoid discomfort, above the Adam's apple is the way to go. Blood chokes in martial arts, be they with arms or clothing, are always above the Adam's apple when ideally applied to avoid issues with the trachea and associated cartilages. When ideally applied, they can be extremely fast (I've nearly blacked out in ~3s once and typically everyone does in <10) with minimal or no discomfort.

Likewise with long drop hanging, rope is placed high and slightly offset with the intention of fracturing the c spine above C3 nerve root (c3-c5 control the diaphragm.)
