Hey, so yesterday I attempted partial hanging with a string I snuck into the psych ward. I think I tried for 40 minutes and I got really close, like, quite frequently. But it felt like I was passing out due to lack of oxygen because it was compressing my trachea and I also felt like my head was going to explode because I was compressing my jugular. I didn't really feel like I was compressing my carotid arteries, at least not enough. I mean, the guide for hanging says you pass out within seconds and that wasn't the case for me. So I tried and I tried and I tried and I tried and I tried. And for some reason I just couldn't get it to work. So I ended up pressing the emergency button in my room and just to get some pills to dope me up and calm me down.

And a doctor looked at me a few minutes after pressing the emergency button and I noted that the right side of my neck and chin were like numb afterwards. And it's the next day now. It's been 12 hours and that area is still numb. So I'm wondering if I've done any permanent damage from trying to hang myself for that long.

I'm sorry you're in a bad place now, and hope you get some relief. As for the neck, often things heal over time, I guess 12 hours could still be recovering your attempt. I'm no medical professional so maybe someone else will have more specific info

36 hours now and it's the same shit. I did have a doctor look at it yesterday and they said I just should give it time.
