Hello,
While this is only my second post, unfortunately it won't be a cheerful one.
I have spent a while reviewing options and I have come to the conclusion that partial hanging seems to be the best and most accessible method for me at the moment. I don't really have much access to ropes however I have managed to acquire a meter long, pretty thick and durable dog leash. It has a clip on the end (obviously) and it loops back around on the other end so you can hold it. I won't be using the loop as it won't be constricting enough I believe. So I have decided I will use the loop to go over a sufficiently high enough bedpost and I'll tie up the other end into a slip knot (I think?) I have already set it up this way and it holds really well. I'm only asking on here because I want to be absolutely sure it's a viable method to make me lose consciousness rather quickly.

If anyone has any opinions or issues/suggestions about this, please do let me know.

Also I apologise if this has already been asked before, but I don't have access to the search feature yet and from my time sifting through other posts I haven't found one similar.

EDIT: Just managed to successfully nearly pass out by manually compressing my carotid artery. I'm feeling pretty confident this will work.

So you aren't going to use the clip, though, right?

No, the clip is as expected made for clipping onto dog collars, so it's too small for any usefulness. It also gets in the way a little bit, however it's just a small matter of discomfort and looks like it shouldn't affect it overall.

I'm not too worried about that, it's more positioned pointing upwards from where the actual knot is tied. So it should only touch my head and not cause any significant issues.

I feel I'm just an endless strain on people. I don't really have any reason to be alive in the first place, so why should I?

Fair enough. I feel the same way. Like I'm just taking up space. Like i dont contribute anything to anyone. It wasn't always like this. But over the years and bouts of psychosis, it's come to this

I found a pretty useful post once regarding locating it if you need help with that, it contained this YouTube video:

I think the reason for not passing out Might be the knot. I'm currently experimenting using the hanger man knot with shoe laces and have no difficulty. I tried another knot but it was impossible to pass out. A thin rope and and a hanger man knot.

Any update? This is my preferred method and I've read several posts of folks CTB by simply leaning into the rope, not even being suspended from a high place nor jumping

Hiya, I haven't attempted anything yet as I want to wait until after Christmas. But if I can compress the carotid artery like I can do with my hands then I think it should work. I don't see many major flaws with it.

There's plenty of discussion on here about it, if you search around. I will add here that the hangman knot has no give, because it's for full drop hanging, not suspension. A simple slipknot worked best for me.

From what it seems, the position I'll try shouldn't be very easy to instinctively loosen pressure after I black out. However of-course as you say there is still the issue of SI..

Yeah, I've been set on using a slipknot and I don't plan on using anything else.

Is there a specific search word you'd recommend I use? I've tried finding more posts but maybe I'm not using the correct terms

The discussion titled "Hanging survivors" had some interesting experiences. I posted there too. I don't see a lot of clear cut directions for rope here. Most of what I know is from old ASH pages and just looking up details about strangulation deaths.
