  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

Well the drinking didn't work as you all had said it would be difficult to ctb with alcohol OD and thank you for your responses on that.

I decided I am going to do a partial hanging with my robes belt and have it lodged in my window which closes and seals up tightly.

I made the slipknot and tried it to be sure it would hold my weight which it seemingly does.

My question is if for some reason the belt slides through the window say a few minutes after I've been hanging (when I'm already unconscious) and I no longer have that pressure, does that mean that I won't die but will turn into a vegetable?

Also, if that is the case then don't we have rights to not keep us alive if we are brain dead? Like if I wrote a letter stating I didn't want to live in vegetative state couldn't they just finish me off? I don't have anyone that would want to keep me alive especially in that state so what woukd that look like?

I'm not too sure on the laws state to state, but it sounds like if you leave a note that implies "do not resuscitate" in some way, they should honor it. Not saying they will, but they should.

Depending how long after it is you might just wake back to consciousness with a headache and a sore neck. If it's been 5/10 minutes and hypoxia had set in then it's possible. I don't fully know the mechanics to give you a definitive answer but sadly it is one of the risks of hanging.

I'd recommend you write a living will. It's basically a document used by your relatives when you're alive but unable to advocate for yourself on what care to give you. Whether you want to go to a care home, what interventions you do and don't want. A really useful thing for everyone to have tbh.

Thank you Bedrock. I actually wrote one last night with my wishes and who should have my car and finances, etc…
Maybe a full suspension would be better now that I think of it. Probably in garage where I can just kick the chair. Seems like it might be more definitive with that method.

Full is more successful if everything is tied well.

It's all up to you. Partial is easier in the sense you can practice and kinda know what you're getting yourself into before trying. Most of the time with full you just get one shot at it. Both methods you still want to make sure you won't be found early and that you know everything will hold your weight. Don't want the ceiling coming down on top of you

I wish you well with your journey and whatever you choose.

I would probably tie a knot(s) in the robe rope so it can't come through a locked window easily if I chose that method.

I thought of that as well but I realized my closet bar is more sturdy and I gave a few practice rounds so I know it will hold up for sure

Somehow even with finding my sweet spot for a partial, I used a scarf on a solid closet bar and I don't even remember how I stood up due to SI. My ears were ringing bad when I came around fully, though and I was super dizzy, obviously.
