For me it's pure curiosity. I mean, this site is also kinda inactive, but at least it's not as toxic as Reddit lol.

Every place else I have been is either pro-life or banned, sorry. You could try /r/suicidalthoughts on Reddit or whatever 8chan 's /suicide/ is now called (if it even still exists), but I think that is it for something close to here. This place is by far the best, dunno why you'd want to go elsewhere, personally.

I used to belong to several Google suicide-discussion-open groups. But I haven't participated in years. I'd be surprised if Censor-tech hasn't taken them down. I've also found several sites on the Dark Web, but they move a lot and Tor is just too slow (to me) to access. If you find others, please update us.

Maybe, but another site will never have as much freedom as this place. People always add silly restrictions like requiring the age of 50+ and we don't have to deal with that nonsense here.

The ones that should allow suicide discussion were banned.

The ones that allowed people to vent became dating websites.

Some might exist, but they are mostly sub-groups or are poor administered or are focused on one language only.

I think its inactive due to a lot of the old users who really kept this place going have either passed on, gone to recovery, or have joined a discord, Many locked down due to the hype this site got from the media and the hate.
Also I think for many, once you have the info you want, why do you need to be here, if you aren't in it for chatting etc, the other factor is many posts are just repeated over and over and people get bored.
