Yes, I think everyone should. There are people who desperately want to live, so why not give them a chance with the organs I'm not using any longer...assuming they aren't completely destroyed by the time I die :P

Nope. I do not want. Instead I give blood every 56 days. It's my part to help to save someone's life.

I should be an organ donor as well. I may not want to live, but I wouldn't mind if my organs could be used to give someone who does want to live a chance. That'd be beautiful, actually.

I always have my organ donor card on me :) Used to donate blood regularily as well back when my anxiety wasn't as bad.
Personally I like the thought of helping someone & potentially saving their live through my death.

Hospitals don't accept organs from suicide victims. First of all you will die outside of the hospital so it is close to zero percent that your organs will still be usable. If you manage to kill yourself in a way your organs are still viable they won't accept them anyways because doing so would create a moral hazard; suicidal people would effectively be provided with (further) incentive to commit suicide knowing they would be helping dozens of people through their organs.
Bummer, I actually wanted to do that.
Anyway I'm looking into starting to donate blood before I go, as a way to make up for the awful things I've done on top of the charity donations. My mother has been doing it for more than 20 years so I'm planning to ask her how to get into the system next time I see her.

Hmm, there's still a chance you might die in an accident or of an illness before suicide.

Nope, I don't want any part of me to be alive after I'm dead. I don't want to risk somehow being alive through someone else because of something we don't know about consciousness yet, anyways my method involves not being found for a long while so my organs will be rotted by then anyways.

That is what I was thinking. But the biggest problem I see is time. How long after death can a person's organs still be used? I guess I'll Google that question. Anyway, I plan to be very remote. Probably would not be found for several days, so doubtful organs could be used. I would not sacrifice being found, just so I could donate organs. But I do wish I could!

OK, Here is what I got after Googling:
Q: What Is The Maximum Time Span Between Recovering Organs/Tissues and Transplantation?
A: The approximate maximum time for the following organs/tissues is:
Lung (4-6 hours);
Heart (4-6 hours);
Liver (24 hours);
Pancreas (24 hours);
Kidney (72 hours);
Corneas (14 days);
Bone (5 years);
Skin (5 years);
Heart valves (10 years).

I am not an organ donor. This may sound very petty and bitter but its because I was involuntarily admitted to a psych ward. I see everyone saying how it is a good thing to do to someone and how my family did the right thing. I don't want my organs to go to someone like that. :/

I am, though it doesn't much matter now. I'm going to end myself tomorrow night in a hotel room. I don't anticipate being found until the following morning, at which time all of my organs will have ceased to be "viable," or usable for transplant. It seems an aweful waste, given that I am perfectly healthy (physically).

Anyone here want my vital organs? I'll give them to you free of charge! Matter of fact, I'll pay you to take them.

I know what you mean.
I'm 66, my health is awesome.
Almost never sick, nothing hurts, my brain is my only problem.
I see people here who want to ctb due to health problems or severe pain.
Makes me feel sad and guilty to think what I have.
If only science could transplant their brain in my body, it would be something good.
Just bury my brain with their body, all would be good.
Maybe someday?

I was an organ donor, but I took myself off the organ registration list. In fact, I want to make sure my organs do not get donated. That's part of the reason why both of my methods cause oxygen deprivation (SN and exit bag). The goal is to also be dead for several hours before getting found in hopes that my organs won't be able to be used. I think we have way too many people on this planet (and the population just keeps growing) and I can't choose who my organs go to. Maybe I'm selfish, but there are certain kinds of people I don't want to save.

nitrogen & exit bag. not sure if my organs would be good after a certain amount of time had passed

thank you! jesus. just looking at this list & having to have dialysis a few times a year ago makes me hope the timing works so that my kidney is saved. it's a horrible life being on that, & a long waiting list. auuuugggh

I think I'm on the donor register but if I hang by partial suspension I don't know how viable it is to salvage my organs when I'm found

Same method, with same doubts.
Can't do at home, wouldn't do that to my wife.
So in an old car at end of remote, deadended, dirt road with lots of trees for camouflage.
Car can be junked afterword.

No, we don't owe anybody anything.

If they did I would definitely re-create Seven Pounds

No way. The system doesn't allow us to peacefully die whenever we want, so why would I help the system to save some of its pro-life puppets sneakily enslaved to eliminate pro-choice sentiments. No thanks. I would only give my heart away in exchange for a peaceful death under anesthesia.

Sounds like a good trade to me!
Actually, I would give anything the wanted for that trade.
Additional benefits: once I'm dead, I'm right there, so hack away!

Meh... I'm registered as a donor and if people want my organs and they are still viable for transplant then they are welcome to them. However, I'm certainly not going to inconvenience or jeopardize my exit strategy to try and preserve them. Not given society's continuing determination to make suicide such a risky, taboo, and general pain in the ass endeavor.

Even if I died naturally, I'm not allowed to donate. I live in the US, but I grew up in a country that the US doesn't accept blood/organ donations from.

You basically have to die in the hospital to donate organs, but tissues can be retrieved for donation up to 24 hours after your death.

So if that's important to you, you can find a way to be found within 24 hours.
