Hello,

I have read a lot about the Amitriptyline cocktail and am considering it. I actually would be using Nortriptyline, which is a similar drug, and I do not think that will be a problem.

To prepare, I have been looking online for some experiences with ODing on either of those medications, as part of the recommended cocktail or not. I've read a few experiences on Erowid (really recommend checking that out if you don't know the site) but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for.

Does anyone here have any experience ODing on Nortriptyline or Amitriptyline that they don't mind sharing?

A couple of users posted here about taking (small) overdoses of Amitriptyline:

That's exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for, thanks! I tried to search through the site for something like that, but missed that somehow.

If anyone else can share their experience, I'd appreciate it - stuff like this is really what I've been trying to find.

Do you find nortriptyline sedating like amitriptyline is supposed to be? I don't, if anything I find it a little stimulating, all the more reason to use benzos with it if I go that route.

I've never taken amitriptyline so I can't directly compare, but I take nortriptyline at night and don't usually have a problem falling asleep (something I often have issues with). I think if I take it and wait a bit (like an hour or so?), that's when I feel any sedative effects.

I haven't thought of this difference before, though.... nortriptyline is what I have and I have a lot of it, but I am a bit worried that everything I read about is amitriptyline, which is apparently stronger.

Yeah I think amitriptyline is a bit more lethal but if you are using large quantities like 7-8g of nortriptyline I am pretty sure it would do the job. (As part of a modified 'Amitriptyline cocktail')

Edit: you have probably read this but https://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Suicide/Amitriptyline_cocktail

Do you think the amitriptyline has the same effect in liquid form?

I would think it would be stronger, if anything? But I really don't know.

Yeah, that's where most of my knowledge about the method comes from. I'm not sure I'll be able to get anything besides over the counter anti-emetics and the nortriptyline, so I'm hoping a modified cocktail works (part of the reason I've been trying to read everything I can about it).

Tbh I think there is a very high chance of vomiting if you're not using the same kind of prescription antiemetics recommended with N and SN.

I appreciate the advice... I'm still hoping/trying to get stronger anti-emetics. I have ODed (not on these drugs) before and never threw up despite most people getting sick, so I guess my hope is that happens again? Hopefully I can get the better meds.

It is mentioned in amit. Cocktail that replacing Amitriptyline with Nortriptyline (or some other anti-depressants) does the work. So, it think it'll surely work. But , check if you already have tolerance to Nortriptyline , you are a regular user you told.. in which case I suggest to take 1or 2 grams more just in case.

For the rest of drugs used in cocktail, they have given alternatives if you can't find the drugs mentioned. i am unable to find some in my country , so I'm looking for alternatives. But I think they suggested to use Metoclopramide as anti-emetic and no other drug. You'll have to use benzos surely I think.

Do you know that the benzos are a necessary component? I am trying to get anti-emetics but I don't think there's any chance of me getting benzos before I ctb.

I'm trying to do the ami cocktail with different drugs (OTC anti-emetic and nortriptyline, minus benzos) and hoping that taking lots more nortriptyline than suggested will cover all those differences. Getting more nervous tbh

In amit. Cocktail, benzos are necessary. Amit. Itself is sedative to some extent (more sedative than Nortriptyline) but not enough to mask the pain when amit. acts on heart. And from a quick research I have done, Notrip. Is less sedative than amit., Which makes it very necessary to add benzos if it has to be peaceful. Not discouraging you , suggesting you to check the possibilities that might happen. No one wants to go through excruciating pain and leave a attempt midway. I don't know if increasing the dosage of nortrip. would do the work.
You might get some benzos showing the reason as insomnia, anxiety.

Getting more nervous tbh

Its okay . Im also a bit nervous actually as the days are passing by..Once in a while. I think this is just the path that we have to follow to move ahead.

Wouldn't try it without benzos. I'd wait a little longer to be on the safe side if I were you. Agree with @Donewith_ - tell them you need something to calm you down, that tou have tried a lot of things already and maybe that you suffered under side effects with other meds.

Thanks to both you and @Donewith_ . I'm going to take both of your advice and delay a little bit so I can try to get some benzos. I doubt I will be able to get them prescribed, as I am being watched quite closely and its a miracle they've allowed me the nortriptyline. It's probably best to at least give it some time to try and get them.

Thanks to both of you again.

I know how you feel. At least there is a place like this where we can see that we're not as alone.

Maybe it's easier to get the benzos as they are comparably harmless except for the risk of getring addicted. It's worth a try and I wish you good luck! (:

Thank you for the luck! I luckily see my doctor once a week now, so I'll try my best.

Thanks again to you and other posters in this thread. You've all been really helpful and kind.
