How convenient would it have been, if there were some method to erase a part of someone's memory.
There would have been barely any broken-hearted, fewer people with issue and maybe less suicide.

Although the only bad side I can think of would be that we wouldn't be the same person anymore due to the fact that "we are who we are because of our experiences & memories".

I'd erase my awareness of sugary food. But I'd leave myself a note in advance never to touch my chosen drug (sugar).

I wish such a thing existed! If all my memories of past trauma were erased it would certainly help me to recover (I would still have physical pain but getting rid of the mental pain would only help). I would not care that I wouldnt be "me" anymore since I already feel like I have no identity.

I've always had issues with my past, things that were out of my control. The last few years I've really tried to escape the bad memories with a lot of meds and drinking. Its brought such confusion, irritability, and so much more.

Yes, there are. But they must be unreliable. Since it would have been a popular thing like botox & plastic surgery . maybe it wouldn't be so safe but people would still do it

I hope that it will be a thing in the future and possibly while we are still here.

I suffer from just such an affliction. It's called SDAM and it does not actually help in fact i'd argue it makes it worse. I don't even really know why I am who I am but it did not change me.

I'm glad it didn't. For some reason, I always thought that we are who we are because of our past and our experiences through things.

I wish we could selectively delete memories like in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. But I'd end up selectively deleting the vast majority of my shitty life.

Truthfully I would never do that. I may hate everything now and some memories, but I would never erase the good ones just to get rid of the bad. I do like the concept tho!

I would rather hand-pick some of memories to erase, like @anelakapu said especially of some specific person. Without whom my life would have been much better .
BTW Thank you @anelakapu for mentioning this movie. I need to watch it.
I've recently come across a movie called Replicas - 2018 in which the actor could erase every memory related to a person. Amazing movie
