The articles and attention they bring are nothing new. I've seen it come and go in waves in the now over 2 years I've been here. I wouldn't worry yourself too much about it.
OF FUCKING COURSE. They give that fucking useless hotline number as the alternative for a place like this. I mean seriously it's like they're not connecting the dots of why more people come here 4 times as many as using the National Suicide Prevention lifeline. And you know what's fucked up is god forbid you have atleast ONE forum dedicated to pro choice suicide instead of preventing suicides constantly.
And they act like shutting this site will stop suicides from happening. Yes they'll stop the access of Information about suicide methods and they just may stop some people from killing themselves. But whether they think they're saving others or not, regardless suicides will still happen.
In addition to this, having factual information about suicide will greatly reduce the amount of pain a person will go through during the process. Then again, I guess others suffering is okay so long as you are the sole beneficiary.
I found this via the PBS story so while I see that could definitely be a problem I'm also very happy (if you can say that) that I found this outlet. I wish I knew sooner. I feel like at least I can have a group who really understand what's going through my mind. Appreciate everyone here.

Naive question especially since I just woke up, but is there any news outlets more known than NYT and PBS? I mean if this doesn't die down what other news networks are likely to cover this story? Like does anyone think social media will help feed the flames also?
