I was listening to National Public Radio this morning. There was a news story on Morning Edition about the rise in suicide among the elderly:

A transcript of the radio story

I feel ambivalent about this. I keep thinking that ctb should be more socially accepted and that a large part of its stigma is because people are obliged to hide and surreptitiously ctb in order not to be rescued and "helped". Yet euthanasia among the elderly is becoming more socially acceptable, as long as one has a physical illness that will not get better. It is as if ctb is only acceptable under very strictly defined categories, even for old people. I don't know what to think about this :notsure:
