do you find more comfort in non-existence or in the afterlife? i particularly hope for afterlife. find my grandfather, my aunt, my great-grandmother,my great uncle.. know more about god (yes, i believe in god) , about the wonder of his love.. what comforts me most is knowing that i will meet my loved ones there..

I wont share my beliefs here because it would be a massive black pill for many. But in a nutshell I believe that we keep getting tricked into reincarnating on Earth.

The thought of a heaven used to comfort me. I lost quite a few close family members early on and that was always used to try and comfort me. That they are in a better place now and one day, we'll all see one another again.
Of course- that still appeals. I still miss all of them. But when I think about it- an eternity with them?!! And they are the same? And I'm the same? How long before some of them start nagging/ bickering? After the initial hugs and tears- I reckon by the afternoon, we'd be having disagreements. Imagine an eternity of it!
Then I start to think about God and Christianity itself and realise there are elements to both that I hate. Why would I want to inhabit another world created by the same designer? Why would they want me there? They know I'm really angry with them. So- chances are, they'll send me to hell. If there's a heaven, why not a hell? And I don't fancy going there. Maybe one night for a Freddie Mercury concert... He wanted to go to hell! Lol!
So- based on what I think God is like looking at how this world has been set up. Based on the religions we know about- I hope there's nothing. That seems the safer bet to me. I can't miss what I can no longer feel. No more anything- sounds fine.

I am hoping for non-existence, but just like @leavingthesoultrap, I am also familiar with a theory which indeed is a hard pill to swallow. I also don't like and don't feel comfortable going into details, but our usernames hint at what that theory is, and you can look it up. Alas, I reiterate that I hope for non-existence. It just sounds a lot more peaceful, than having to deal with the potentials of an afterlife and trying to escape reincarnation.
If I CTB'd then I'd go to hell if there was an afterlife. I have made peace with this. No suffering if I'm non-existent so.. if those are the only two options, then I'd go with non-existence.
If..reincarnation was real..it's going to be a pain, specially if i dont get to keep the memory of the previous life, at least.
I hope for something good, something better. Or some sort of greater meaning to why we all had to go through this... I'm comfortable with hope, but not the word belief. Belief is foolishness and the mark of a closed minded individual.
But I don't even try to bother imagining what that could be or look like. What's the point trying to imagine or invent something? It's arrogant to believe you know anything about these things and also you're using your limited human brain to do so... it's pointless. A futile exercise.
If there is something else, then we'll find out when we die. Otherwise we won't know anything, because we'll just cease to exist.
I find comfort in non-existence forever only nothing else . That's what I think will happen after death.
Evolution invented this illusion that there is someone looking out at the world through their eyes. A fish frog lizard mouse crow dog monkey also has this illusion. It's an illusion of a self that the brain solely creates. sortof like a first player shooter video game. the character doesn't exist in the game it's software simulation . It's a software simulation running on the brain of a vertebrate. We don't exist in the physical world . We exist only In a simulation that the brain creates in that 3 pound organ , joscha Bach explains it:
Everywhere it is lauded that this sentience consciousness is something special , important , good , wonderful. I see it as a horror because only this consciousness sentience can create unbearable pain that is so bad it makes everything else meaningless
Nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution. Consciousness is no exception—it seems nonphysical, but is very much a biological phenomenon.

Consciousness and a brain evolved. This image shows all vertebrates have basically the same brain structure , same brain parts etc. . the neurons / nerve cells are all exactly the same
I only find comfort in non-existence and I very strongly believe that once we die we simply cease existing. Eternal non-existence is the only desirable outcome, I only want the peace of an dreamless and eternal sleep free from all harm and suffering, I only envy the non-existent as they have no worries or concerns, they are the fortunate ones as they are no longer burdened with the ability to exist. Existence itself is the problem, it's a curse to exist and existence causes nothing but suffering, I simply wish to be eternally unaware where all is forgotten about.
I fear reincarnation. There are tons of NDEs out there which give us a glimpse maybe? The only thing I want is to be reunited and together again with my husband, mom and dad, and my kitties, especially the kitty I just recently lost. His loss is what ultimately brought me here. I had been depressed and had suicidal ideation after my husband died and for most of my life but my kitty was my reason for living and he made it bearable. What's more I feel responsible. I feel I owe it to him to try to be with him and take care of him. At the same time, I would love to be with my husband again and our other babies to continue our life that was cut short so suddenly. If not that, I want blackness.
I don't mind either or though I'd prefer an afterlife. For me it's comforting and an exciting thought to entertain that on the other side we get to be the creators of our own world.
If this world is an illusion then I'm sure there must exist multiple illusions that with a few tweaks, could be made into a paradise.
I think people grossly underestimate infinity, the many forms that art and beauty could take, concepts yet to be explored.
I'm sure, If the secrets of creation were all readily availability at our fingertips I don't think most people would mind eternity.
Plus, things like boredom and suffering probably don't exist on the other side, we wouldn't have the same restlessness and dissatisfaction that comes with being a human with limits.
It'd be a totally new experience or a returning to home and I'm honestly looking forward to it. Makes death feel less grim and scary.

More comfort in non-existence, because the chances of an afterlife are near absolute zero, hopelessly magical thinking to think that there actually is one--However, If there was some evidence of an afterlife, where I would see Patti again, I would then CTB in a heartbeat
I've been into scripture and biblical studies for roughly 38 years now. I do my best just Incase. But tbh, I'd much rather cease to exist. Total nothingness is more comforting to me than any idea of an extension. Regardless of where.
Our notion of spirituality, the truth of it, is nothing that is in any religious scriptures. So don't worry about heaven, if anything it's reincarnation, EVOLUTION OF CONSCIOUSNESS.

Idk everything feels like it's real. "Suffering is the result of caring about things you cannot change. And if you are able to change what you care about to those things that you can change, you will not suffer." "And would you then be able to experience happiness?" "Yes"

Yeah I disagree with Josha Bach on that . unbearable pain and extreme suffering are real . unbearable pain and suffering are objectively bad . but all else is not objectively "good" as they say like youtube , media , news, sports other crap they say is so fun , that's the way it is to me . there's no way to turn off pain and suffering while alive and nor experience happiness imo . to me only way is non-existence to achieve happiness for me that this horror in this brain that can create so much pain doesn't exist anymore ...
But a main point I agree with Bach on is that consciousess etc are created solely by the brain . There is nothing outside the brain that creates consciousness, thinking experiences etc

Yes we could use the Jews in Nazi Germany as an example. They did not create Hitler and the destruction of their entire families and friends. They were minding their own business and were killed because they were Jews. How did they "write" that?
A person I used to esteem said "everything that dies does not leave the universe." We are energy, once we die we are transformed into energy, then into other new bodies or just something else. In nature nothing is destroyed, everything is recycled, so I guess the same applies to death.
I doubt there is hell or heaven, in fact I am convinced of their non-existence.
There was no life for you before you were born for millions of years, why would there be a life for you when you are dead, that's how I'm looking at it and making sense of it.
If there is an afterlife/reincarnation I don't think I'd want to be in it. I'm trying to end the pain and suffering, I don't want to end up doing the same thing in another life. It would just be an endless cycle of pain and suffering over and over, that to me is not something I'd want nor would I want it on anyone else.
I hope for a personal after life, where I can control who comes in. I have a lot of people who will be wanting in but won't gain accuses. I just wish I could be in my happy after life rn.
