I couldn't go through with hanging. I am so fucked. I could maybe take the pills today and hopefully die by Wednesday. It's so final. I am concerned about my family seeing me severely sick or dead. But I am in deep student debt and I didn't even finish the degree. I was so overwhelmed. That I tried to kill myself, was found and now my whole family knows. I have tried hanging multiple times after that but couldn't.

It's hard for me to get heroin as the cops are watching the town where I live. I would ideally love to die peacefully but it doesn't seem possible. But also I can't stay.

I am actually sad about my departure. Sometimes I have hope but what's the point?
What would make the paracetamol overdose easier? Is it even possible for me to ctb with little to no pain?

DO NOT take paracetemol to ctb. Please don't. You won't die quickly at all. It's almost certain you won't even die. You'll experience a huge amount of pain, and will most likely suffer lifelong health effects such as extensive liver damage. Please don't do it.

I'd say try researching about other methods, ctb w/ paracetamol is a slow, painful and agonizing death+the risk of failing is too high.

Hanging was my only other accessible way to go but I chicken out everytime

I have. I don't have access. I was hoping for nitrogen but I can only afford nitrogen liquid. Access to other types is expensive

Why are you ready to ctb? Are there other reasons than your student debt? Have you tried working with your lenders to find some sort of payment plan or even a forebearance? I'm assuming you are in the states. There are programs where debt is cancelled - I've seen it in the fields of teaching and nursing. There is also a program called Americorps - it's like a Peace Corps in the states. I can't remember the specifics, but I believe you get a monthly stipend and at the end of your term, some of your loan is forgiven. And there's always graduate school - doesn't erase loans, but puts them off. In very rare cases, student debt has been bankrupted. I used to work at a college - it's why I have so much to say on this topic. Also, if you have become disabled, it's possible to have loans forgiven after a 3 year period. Getting approved for disability is difficult.

Wanted to give you some options, in case this was the main reason to ctb. There are possibilities for student debt. I know it sucks and gave me plenty of heartache. We have a program with UPS, too, where students work, get paid a salary and receive tuition remission. If you were to do grad work, you might have the same set up - stipend + tuition remission. Just FYI.

PS: I just saw you had not finished your degree. Are you on academic suspension? Is this why you can't finish? Also, you can usually petition to reinstate financial aid if you were re-admitted. Even a part-time schedule of classes would work to defer loans. Explore your options. Good luck! Find someone on campus you can talk to. Do you dislike your major? After a certain number of years you can usually apply for academic bankruptcy. It would help your academic record but would not affect your loans. Here's another situation, too. Are you considered an independent student vs dependent? That can affect the amount of aid you are eligible for as well. Hoping you can attack that issue!

But what choice do I have?

You quite obviously have the choice to postpone your attempt until you have identified and obtained a suitable method. Members have already offered the help you identify a method.

As others have said, paracetemol overdose is both extremely unpleasant and rarely fatal. Protesting or whining is not going to make that method any more viable, I'm afraid.

I live in South Africa. I come from a disadvantaged background and was on a bursay.
I was just feeling overwhelmed and out of place. I was exhausted and felt like I wasn't going anywhere.

I was supposed to apply for Accommodation fees but ended up being found trying to hang myself.

Now it's too late to do it and the place where I stayed now says I personally owe them.

I was dependant on this bursay.

I just couldn't do it academically anymore. I was just depressed and had a phase where I was manic. I didn't get the help I need because I have no medical aid. After the manic episode everything just came crashing down and my depression got sooo worse. Kinda stuck in it now.

I never wanted to go to school but honestly I miss it now.

More likely to succeed with a 200+ foot jump. Paracetamol will be slow, painful and won't finish the job you intended it to do. Which will make the whole thing a pointless excercise in self harm.

Trying to OD from OTC drugs will just make your situation much worse as it won't work and leave you in pain, please look at the resources section and consider a more painless way to CTB.

I would love to CTB in South Africa, I would chase the lions but knowing my bloody luck they would run away.

Hope you find peace.

Cheers

Speaking from personal experience, don't use paracetamol, ever. It takes days to kill you, and by the time it starts making effect you might end up chickening out (I certainly did, sadly). And well, any hospital stay sucks, but considering they have to clean your insides a lot of the things you will go through are unpleasant and uncomfortable.

Dude, if hanging is hard for you, then paracetamol will fuck you up, even if you die, you will regret it in the process, because of suffering.

Unfortunately I don't know anything about the South African higher education system. I'm so sorry you are in this position. I focused on that because it seemed like the one thing you were focusing on, and if you could find a way to change that situation, you might want to stick around. I hope you are able to find something that will give you some peace. It sounds like you have a lot going on.
