Nitrate or nitrite?

Hello everybody. I'm new here and would like to ask a question. I bought sodium nitrate instead of sodium nitrite. do they both work the same way?

They are very different from one another. One is a fertilizer which will poison you but most likely not kill you. The other is an oxidizer which when done right will kill you.

It´s sodium nitrite = NaNO2. Have you read Stans guide or the PPH ?
