Help Need help with hanging

Good morning,
This is the first time I write here so I apologise if I got the wrong forum.
As the title indicates, I have some questions about hanging.
Indeed, I have tried several times to hang myself partially (on my knees) but I can't go to the end because when I hang myself, my swallowing is extremely painful. I would like to know if it was normal or if I had done something wrong?
Also I don't understand why I can't die, despite my many attempts. Is it because I'm doing partial hanging? Do I have to do the total hanging? Is total hanging more legal than partial hanging?

I also attempted partial on my knees and did have a bit of pressure when swallowing. What helped me a bit was padding my rope with a washcloth so there was not so much pressure directly on my throat.

I am assuming you meant "lethal" and yes, full suspension is generally more lethal than partial though many people have died via both methods.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I also used a scarf so that the rope wouldn't hurt me too much, but I think I tied my noose too tight, because it really hurt when I swallowed afterwards. Maybe that's normal when you hang yourself?

My vision blurred, my head was spinning, and my arms felt drained of energy. But it was long enough for me to feel the need to remove the rope. Maybe I was on the path to success?

Oh yes, it was indeed "lethal," it must be my spell checker. The problem I have with total hanging is that I can't hang myself in midair. Mentally, partial hanging is "easier" to achieve.

Partial can be difficult as it requires finding a "sweet spot" where you close off the carotid arteries to deprive the brain of blood. The perfect position is different for everyone but once you have it, you should pass out fairly quickly (less than 30 seconds). It takes a lot of trying and readjusting.

Okay, I see. I was wondering, for total hanging we also faint in less than 30 s? As there is not really a position to be found, since we are suspended in the void.

The idea is to faint quickly but it really depends on how the rope is sitting around your neck as to how it goes.

When you did partial, was there a fear because of what might happen once you become unconscious?
I think with partial hanging becoming unconscious is definitely possible without too much pain but given the fact you can stand up and stop the attempt whenever you want the si will be very strong especially then when it's only 3-4 seconds left until you'd become unconscious.

Of course I assume you're aware that only full suspension will prevent your SI from botching your suicide. Partial means failure and frustration in most cases, as it allows abortion too easily .
