• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Our public expense ledger is now live, allowing anyone to see how donations are used to support the ongoing operation of the site.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

Since I'm still in my probationary period (less than full forum access), I wanted to ask about necrobumping (replies to threads that have not been active for long periods of time).

In this forum in particular, it can be tricky, if not outright triggering, to see a post by someone from months or years ago. Whether they caught a bus, recovered and moved on, or just disappeared, the emotional impact on those who knew them may make it worth considering something like a universal thread expiration date, after which they're archived behind the Sanctuary, or something like it.

I understand that a lot of threads have long-term value, but those could be (and have been) stickied.

SaSu's unique format means anything done elsewhere would necessarily have to be reviewed and/or modified before implementation here, but it seems prudent to have a discussion.

Meanwhile, I'll keep bumping up old Forum Games from before COVID.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

(P.S. I know that people are doing their own archives by quoting posts into their profile post sections (I see you! lol:heart:) but I'm thinking of fullscale implementation.)

I was wondering about this. SaSu seems to discourage us from making threads with a topic that have been discussed about before. That means past threads can still be relevant/active, but for most of the time, this isn't the case...

Yes, I've actually been restraining myself, not starting a zillion new threads. I had one deleted by a mod tonight, with good reason, and they were able to comply with my request before I requested it, lol

The main issue for me is protecting our members, whether it's from prying eyes, or trauma prevention, we may need to duck and cover. Or not. That's why the thread is here, and I appreciate your input.

Now and again, there will be members who comment on a bunch of years old expired threads. I can't say I ever found it traumatic- although- they were rarely by someone I recognised. It did make me wonder about their eventual fate- if they hadn't been here for a while. Some of the older threads are really interesting. People have mentioned before, that- looking back- pretty much all the same sort of concerns were being discussed back then too.

For me though- it was more that it could be annoying. Because, I/ we don't always check the post date. If an older thread is resurrected, multiple people may spend time commenting. If it's a venting thread, people may invest time trying to provide advice and support when the OP may well not be on the forum anymore.

If anything, I think it could be nice/ better if there were a separate section to pull up older threads. It's still interesting for people who like to be on the forum to read through posts more. For those who prefer to actively interact and comment- with the hopes of that being read and responded to- it would mean they don't waste time/ energy on old threads that will disappear again soon.

Thank you for this! It's exactly what I was hoping would come up, probably because I agree with you. I don't want the old content to disappear, but archiving and separating it seems prudent.
Thanks again for your input.
