It's early days yet but it seems like this site doesn't have your usual dickheads and trolls. My theory is that people on Reddit are miserable and want to take it out on others but people here are miserable and only taking it out on themselves plus its hard to insult someone suicidal I mean they would probably agree with most insults you throw at them.

There's definitely gotta be some undercover people here solely to try and get people to kill themselves for their own enjoyment.

Interesting point yes maybe thats true. I think those people are the biggest losers in the world if they need to do that for fun if anyone kills themselves it should be them.

I was reading another thread about sickos that try and force suicidal people to hurt themselves, animals and others with blackmail. Scumbags need to be in jail.

It would be reported and banned quickly. Many here have endured immense suffering and judgment from others in their real lives, so anyone who acted against another would be reported right away. But be careful with DMs. There are a lot of people with bad intentions.

Thanks to the moderators for what they do to keep this forum the way it is. I've been in forums, groups, etc. over the years where there is little to no moderation and such venues rapidly deteriorate into something not worth being a part of. The moderators do such a good job here.

It was the worst around 2021, when we got bombarded with FT26, even chat got raided from time to time. But now, we've got more mods and a better vetting process, it seems not everyone is allowed to enter the site. And that's great. It feels better this way.

I think it's because we've all been "at our lowest" or "at rock bottom" with our mental health … that we all kind of empathize?

I frequent ED threads and it's typically the same- truthfully I think any threads on substance abuse, addiction ,SH, mental illness, ect… weirdly tend to be more respectful and understanding?

While I agree with most people that I am sure there's people on here with bad intentions… I think the majority of people here just know what it's like to feel miserable and unable to cope with life

@NearlyIrrelevantCake Interesting I guess maybe this site is smaller with narrower rules so is held to a higher standard troll wise.

I think people here have a lot of empathy- most of the time. Because everyone here is suffering one way or another. So, even if we don't always quite understand the nuances behind it, we all relate to the feeling that life may not be worth it and death is looking welcoming.

Lots of people here have been bullied too so- I think we learn from that shit- to try not to do it to others.

There's maybe less one-upmanship here in that we aren't trying to impress one another. Although weirdly, we can fall into a pain olympics on occassion. But, on regular social media, there seems more competition to be right or more clever.

I think it is a pretty unique space though. Kind of surprising for such a morbid subject. Now and again, there's the odd bad apple but, they usually get plucked out pretty quickly.

People that go out of their way to find the site, complete the lengthy registration process and then begin to interact must have some degree of empathy for everyone else in a similar position. Although there is often arrogance, i can confidently say that most of the forum is extremely supportive and understanding of whatever you express.

When I found this site my first thought was this can't be real no way that something like this can exist -
a real suicide forum uncensored the real deal with so much help for a suicidal person where he can chat with likeminded people

I don't wanna get political but there were lots of people celebrating Kirk's death or making sarcastic remarks. So not that regulated imo.

Well there might be fewer trolls than other websites (not sure as I don't spend time on other sites). As for fewer dickheads...not so sure. There's been bullying that imo got tolerated over the years on a few occasions. There's been obvious political biases. I imagine it's no worse than most sites though.

This is actually a really good example. I was kind of afraid to post, but I wanted to support your example here. I think outright trolls get caught quickly if they slip through the screening and get an active account because trolls can't help themselves but to troll. But dickheads are a different matter entirely, and there are a few cliques on here that if you get on the wrong side of them they can be brutal. The Kirk discussion activity is a good example of that.

What's FT26? I googled it and it said "Farmtrac FT26 Tractors for Sale" and it assume its not that lol

Its always tricky to get the balance right you don't want to remove something purely because you are offended as that can stifle what this site stands for. I thought that the celebration of Charlie Kirks death was rather callous and ghoul like but I wouldn't want people banned for saying it and I can only assume even Charlie wouldn't. I guess that kind of thing will bring out arguing and ganging up.

There are unfortunately trolls even on this forum, fortunately the site is well moderated so they are typically removed quickly, and others don't have a chance to propagate. There's no such thing as "a site without trolls" when humans are involved, unless there is strict moderation. You are correct that other forums like Reddit usually have terrible moderation, because humans are involved.

Maybe not a popular opinion but I think most people's sympathies and compassions (whether online or IRL) are largely constrained to certain mental health disorders and not others. For example, someone who is depressed and anxious may well find themself getting some sort of support even if it's just empty platitudes. Compare that with someone who has some form of personality disorder or other mental health condition which means they display less socially acceptable behaviours like the one's that are more impactful to others like anger, coercion, being combative or manipulative etc.

Trolling, in some instances, may be a manifestation of some sort of personality disorder. Also having a black and white mindset (incidentally regarded as a 'disordered' personality trait) may lead a user here to be inordinately disagreeable and then when their comments are met with another user with hypersensitivity then you have an escalation.

I don't think it's a simple call of 'ban the troll!' in all instances.

It was a pro-life activism stuff going on called Fix The 26, started by an angry person whose relative committed suicide, it was one of the members IIRC who used SN or N, and apparently forgot to delete their browsing history prior to their suicide so got traced back here

Probably because he reminded them of the type of bully who picked on them in school. He always gave me those vibes when watching his content (the rare times I did).

There have been in the past, but people who act up enough do get banned eventually, after being given chances to improve their behavior. Though, the worst types of bad actors have been people who pretended to be super kind and supportive for long periods, only for their true colours to come out when something provokes the mask to slip. These are the types of people you have to be the most cautious about.
