unfortunately it's common practice in the MH field… also @Tintypographer posted somewhere that there's an incentive for MH practitioners to drop suicidal clients due to legal risks they're running. or something like that.
find another one if you can. no need to get hang up on one shrink. although at the end of the day it depends on your insurance and financial situation. reason why I stopped seeing psychologists altogether.
Sometimes, certain psychiatrists aren't compatible or don't feel compatible with certain patients. It'll be beneficial for you to look for a therapist who actually wants to work with you too.
Finding a good therapist is like finding a mate or best friend. You go through all the trash to get to the real person. Keep looking I believe there is someone out there who will help you. BTW, I tell you this through life situations. Good luck.

2 psychologists have given up on me. They think I gonna ctb due to coming poverty. It hurt a lot but I have now a new one. I am surprised psychiatrists can drop a patient. (Many psychiatrists I know were so cold they did not give any shit for their patients but not all of them.)
This all happened to my daughter. Before she took her own life and way before this site with resources was available. She was dropped by a psychiatrist because she was not responsive to therapy. She was scared, depressed and not responding. And eventually she took her own life.
Sometimes I feel like what people want out of mental health programs is patients who fit into very discrete boxes of "you will follow this process for 6 weeks and slowly be cured" and then if the cure doesn't work the patient is at fault for not trying hard enough and is just a "difficult patient" but it's not that the mental health system isn't working well.
It's very black and white to the Kelli's of the world.

Agree with this. They use their textbook methods of behavior modification and if they don't work, the patient is unwilling. There couldn't possibly be anything wrong with the methods, or even the idea that these thoughts are not always a product of our behaviors.

I saw about 7 psychiatrists, I don't think people who take that profession actually give a fuck about people. They just threw medications at me. If I was in a bad enough state, they'd suggest going inpatient. Thats all. I never gained anything from dealing with them.

The state things are in make healcare almost redundant for anyone without an illness which doesn't fall into their cookie cutter one size fits all system.
"treatment resistent" and they just don't wanna deal with you anymore. nevermind their terrible treatment of you in the first place (eg. sectioning etc). referrals after referrals just turns out to be the same old, only to get you delayed and delayed and accumulate a wealth of psych trauma. sigh.
FFS. When will they learn absolute patience? Just because they can't see an expected response, doesn't mean there isn't one. There are times when I simply cannot respond, but I know that someone is there with me at the very least and is trying to help navigate the darkness. It is EVERYTHING.
i know someone who took escitalopram for 4 days and went throug a withdrawal for4 years!
Another guy took amitriptalin for 3 weeks and went through a withdrawal for 14 months!
And psychiatrist are giving us this trash? Seems criminal.
