I don't believe in the meaning of words like "lazy". I believe that this term (along with others) is used purely to shame/guilt-trip people to do things that you want them to do. It is so easy. If you want to enslave people, all you have to do is make them believe that, if they don't do certain things (that they don't want to do), they are "lazy", and that this is a bad thing.

The word lazy can be misused, like you have stated, but at work I have worked with people who were hard-working and others who are not. If someone goofs off at work as much as possible, especially benig on their cell phone as much s possible, and they do a lot less work than other people, this does seem lazy to me.

i often use the word "lazy" to describe myself.

but i have been trying to be kinder to myself, and realise that what i'm experiencing, rather, is a lack or motivation - which is not harmful to the way i view myself when in a depressive episode :)

Hello @Daxter_87,
I really hate this word, it drives me crazy.
It's so unfair, because people in heaven
Would not be called "lazy."

It's merely an arbitrary judgement
Conducted by so-called "educated."
Such a stupid sentiment
Should be eradicated!

If I were a tyrant, I'd execute this word
So that it will never be heard.
Behold, the corpse of the word "lazy"
Would be diligently pushing up the daisy!

Sorry to be a weirdo and like a drama queen but I agree with you, I hate people who wield this word like a "mighty word of God." Yes I admit I get too dramatic when somebody calls me "lazy" because I feel it's so invalidating.

I've never seen such people in my life but I agree that there are lazy people at some workplace. Do they face any consequences, or can they continue to be lazy?

I guess that if other people are using that word insensitively, it's best to just take no notice of them as the reality is that other people could never experience existence in the same way, their opinions shouldn't matter.
