Venting My old workplace is going to sue me for defamation and I think my time has finally come.

Context: I worked at a studio and I got severe carpal tunnel due to work injury to the point I'm disabled and got surgery, it's been 8 months and I'm not getting any better.

asked for compensation which they didn't gave, called the studio out on Twitter and they contacted me this morning that they're going to file a lawsuit to me for defamation.

It's over. My life is fucking over.

How did you call them out? If there's enough reason to call them out, seems really unfair that they are suing you. Can you afford to get a lawyer to defend you because honestly that really sucks if you get the damage when you are actually be the one that damage has been done to.

I live in a fuckass third world country and it's one of the law that are most exploited by ppl with power. Even if what I said is true it's defaming to them, I could still get fucked over.

I thought they'd apologize and compensate me but this is what they're doing instead. I can't believe that they stoop this low.

I didn't, not even a single bad word were muttered. I said the truth..

I'm trying to find pro bono lawyers in my area but if they still insist on suing me and fucking my life over I'm killing myself because then they won't be able to sue a dead person.

Sorry to hear you're in such distress and difficult moments.

If they can't bankrupt you with endless trial time, and, if you can find a willing lawyer, you might have a chance. I'd give it a shot even if they'd be able to postpone judge decision.

You can transition anytime you want (prior to going to jail - and I'm not saying this is what I wish for you) if the worst came to be and this is what you'd want for yourself. Give it a shot and fight them.

Funny thing is I only have $40 in my bank account, I don't have a house and the somewhat expensive item I have is my old ipad... what more they want to take away from me LOL

I hear you. It can be discouraging when there's legal action taken against us and we feel under resourced. Know that you're not alone and especially in less developed countries where bending of the laws might be attempted by those who want to incriminate us.

With a good lawyer who can hear your case, you may have a chance at having them agree to take on your case and win in the court. Especially if you know you didn't breach any regulation and that you're entitled to your retribution.
