My grandmother died at 92

She lived a long happy health life. Didn't touch the hospital, died at home accompanied by 2 of her 10 children. Fufilled her role. She suffered at the end, by the final year, tho. Lost so much wheight a wind would blow her away, looked like a mummy while still breathing.

There was one time few months ago when she told me those following words: I wish I was dead already.

Obviosly she didn't want to go to the process of her body slowly dying, but was forced. It's crazy society denies their citizens the right to die at our own choosing. If the final destination is the same, I don't get why you can't choose how and when.


Also, it's crazy to think that she no longer exists and that's it. Well, at least she is at peace now.

I find it so incredibly horrific the thought of existing for that long, it's really disgusting to deny people a peaceful right to die and expect them to just deteriorate. This society certainly is pro suffering and existence should be seen as a choice rather than something to be prolonged at all costs. But anyway at least all those who are gone cannot suffer anymore.

She ask'd me many times if i could get her something to OD with, but i didnt take it seriously since i was younger and more childish back then.
One monday morning she had enough and jumped from her 2nd floor apartment. I think that wasn't peaceful way to go at all. She jumped headlong. I heard there was medics trying to treat her for atleast hour after jump before she was dead.

This just appalls me. Poor lady. I'm so sorry for you and her. It's disgusting that people are just left to the point where they feel that desperate. How is that humane or compassionate?

When my grandmother died in 2002, my father and I (by proxy) were depressed for many years because she was the most important member of the family... so that event destabilised the family forever.

Someone in my family passed away today (natural causes) and seeing the impact it has on me and my family I am reconsidering my ctb plans. I don't know why this is happening I just want peace!

The stories of the 80 year + people wishing they had died sooner sticks with me. I'm stuck in the middle, I've outgrown childhood and young adulthood but still have many decades to go before a natural death is a near certainty.

With my diseased personality I have no idea how I'll make it. I'd be dead already but SI keeps me afraid of dying although many other things keep me afraid of living.
