My Dentist thinks I'm a dummy

My dentist thinks I'm special needs. I was in an inclined dental chair, my head leaning backwards, mouth wide open and the dentist was scrapping my teeth with some sharp metal tools. As I was in this torture position, subjected to pains no-one should go through, she asked me if I was special needs or had any mental issues. Apparently I stuttered a few times while speaking to her and she thought I was neurodivergant. She told me that she had some pictures she could show me to teach me how to floss and brush. These pictures were designed for those who are slow of learning. She might as well offer me coloring books with teeth in them and cue cards that say "T is for teeth" and "G is for gums".
I'm not the most eloquent man on the planet and like so many people I can have a verbal tick from time to time. That doesn't mean I ride on the short bus. That doesn't mean I require adult supervision to climb up and down the stairs, but my dentist thinks it does.
Now whenever I visit them I have to deal with her talking very slowly and using her hands to explain things. Whenever I answer a question correctly she says slowly "Good, that's very good. You did good today"

That's really weird... Maybe it will make her do a better job? It could work the other way as well though. I would consider looking for a new dentist. Most of them are shit so it'll be hard but it's probably worth it to shop around. Maybe she is the one who is acting autistic. Maybe she's neurodivergent herself. Such a weird situation.

That's annoying. I think I would ask her if she always speaks slowly and with gestures. And then I'd tell her that I understand English, and that she doesn't have to for my part (unless that is her normal way of speaking).

When did dentists start diagnosing anything other then dental problems anyway?
