55. I do think that there are a lot of younger folks here, but I would have been too if this site was around 35 years ago! I feel for the younger folks who are constrained by finances and living situation, and family and all that. I'm past that and just sailing to CTB without so much complexity and hardship

I would be really interested to see actual statistics on the age of the users here. I feel like different parts of the site attract different age groups (the chat seems to me to be mostly younger users, but I see a lot of older users in the forum itself). It also depends on your definition of 'young' and 'old'. I'm about to turn 30, so I guess people wouldn't categorise me into the 'young' section, but someone much older than me probably would

I would fall into the "young" category, only being in my 20s. But I have been struggling with my mental health since I was 9. I started self harming and feeling suicidal by 10. Nearly attempted at 12. Then had my first of many attempts at 13. I've failed treatment after treatment after treatment and am currently trying yet another new one but don't seem to be improving the way that I would need to in order to see life worth living. Age doesn't discriminate in mental health.

I'm pretty young, so I've been intimately close with a lot of young people as you can imagine. I know how they talk these days, and I can really tell when they're young a lot of the time :/ I worry about there being a lot of teenagers on here. Whenever I see someone typing in all lowercase and using TikTok slang, with some cute pink anime/Sanrio character in their profile picture, and "aesthetic" decorum in name, bio or signature... I just can't help but wonder.

Yes @CatLvr and me have life experience, the old saying: "been there, done that".

Back in the late 1960's, I can distinctly remember thinking that the "older generation", thought that they knew more, and I was always going to prove them wrong. Well, in general, NOPE, I was proved wrong. EVERYBODY makes good and bad life situations, HOWEVER now I look back after all these decades and I have to say that I was green, and I thought that I knew everything before I was even 18. Turns out I knew nothing and had to get a few bloody bumps in life to start and figure things out.

Now just because someone is older, does NOT mean that they are geniuses, HOWEVER, at least in my case, when I use the wording "life experience", I 100% do NOT want some poor soul to go through some aspect of life that would be hell to go through, breaks my heart. ALL I ever want is to try and HELP, CARE and LOVE folks this is all.

Take tech and all the social media, so much of it I have not used and have no idea about it. Like at work, I am always asking younger folks to educate me on stuff. WE are ALL in this together and I love to have anyone, and everyone help me.

PLEASE DO NOT JUMP ON ME, GIVE ME CRAP or anything of said nature. Like back in 2024 a couple of folks on here told me that China and/or Japan "like " old people and maybe I should move there.

I am no better nor worse, just have been through the mill of life more than some and I LOVE helping and caring about others so much.

@CatLvr is such a precious, loving, caring, ever so thoughtful person and I just hope that I can be 1/10th as great and loving as she is.

I think the majority are young- yes. There may be other polls on here too.

I'd be more fascinated to see a poll before and after the Tantacrul YouTube video. I think they brought a lot of younger members to the site. (Ironically.)

I thought being "young" should be a reason to live through pain and see "better" days. That the older people will support and train me because i'm the "future." Oh.. Expectations vs reality. Age isnt experienced the same. Many old people are immature . I was suicidal when i was around 12 years of age.

I see some "young" people wear stress on their faces, then i see some are lucky enough for it not to show.

I get told "it'll get better, you have time. You're young " It's annoying being labeled as "young" being told "i wish i was young as you. Young people are _____!"
