Moral implications of ending it.

Hi all, I am really tempted to end my life but am worried about consequences after death if i have made the wrong choice. I was just wondering what people think i dont know whether i believe in the afterlife but was told that to take ones own life is a sin and could be punished. Im in a lot of pain do people think i will be judged?

Free will is an illusion and isn't real. Whatever happens was by fate. So you cannot be judged for something that was predetermined.

Let me guess you are religious or come from a religious household who indoctrinated you to believe this crap? All kinds of religions threaten people with "suicide is a sin and you will go to hell" this was/is just a ploy for the churches to keep people alive especially in the medieval ages where the churches earned bank on believers surely they didn´t want their payers to die.

It makes absolutely no sense that a person who is suffering in "life" should burn in hell for all of eternity just for wanting to end their pain the only heaven and hell is the one on Earth I lived my heaven in my childhood and my hell in adult years suicide is just the way out of this horrible existence.

I went to a religious school but i dont agree that people should suffer hell for stopping an unbearable existance.

Exactly, I didn´t do anything to end up where I am today like some other members wish they could have done something different I couldn´t! It was predetermined that my physical and mental problems gets worse by each passing year.

@Lupinthe3rd3rd so take this above into account if a person was predetermined to develope horrible physical illnesses like extreme chronic pain or whatever horrible illness you can imagine and he is suffering every second of every day to no fault of his own does it seem likely that just because he wants to end that pain with suicide that he should burn in hell for all of eternity? And where does the line go, what if he found a loop hole and got another person to kill him then it´s technically isn´t suicide. Seriously religions are so outdated and holes in them than a swiss cheese, science has pretty much disproven almost all the aspects of religion.

I insist: No one who decided to quit this world would be feel embarassed or ashamed of their decision. It's your life, period. But unfortunately, overcome the christian view of life as something that only belong to Yahweh it's awful. Whatever we decide, we must respect each other for what decided to do. I don't fear death anymore and despite I will not doing in short time I decided to leave this world someday. So, from my experience, if you keep on mind that worry about being judged for decided to die, you'll feel worse everyday and your mind will become more puzzled. I hope you can find peace in any decision you'll take.

It's worth considering that currently, there is zero respectable evidence supporting an afterlife. Indeed, most religions view suicide as a sin as they place a sacred value on life, but this is not grounded in any empirical fact. It's up to you to believe in god, the afterlife, and all the other trappings of religion, or not. Pascal's wager is an interesting proposition which concludes that logically, adhering to god's word is in our best interests. But many shrug this off because, well, it's very easy to dismiss religion, and following the tenets of religion is difficult.

In conclusion, you can never get a true answer to that question. If anyone ever tells you that you will be sent to hell, or that you won't, they are lying, because nobody knows. All we have on this topic are opinions and feelings. Mine, if you're wondering, are that the prospect of a hell is not enough to dissuade me, and that such a hell is likely to not exist.
