When I go to the url I get a "your browser is beung verified" message, which then resolves to a 500 error message. Is this a worry? I'm using an incognito window.

This is common. If we are hacked, we go down. No worries. Just keep refreshing and we will eventually come back up. Sometimes, it takes longer than others. Just know.... it will be back.
Stay calm. I know I panic when we are down.

Chances are that everything is fine on your end. If you've noticed that things look different, it likely has to do with the forum owner switching over to a new CDN (Cloudflare → VanwaNet).Similar threads
