Hi all,

As I mentioned in a previous post, i obtained a bottle of N in 2020 and am now planning on using it (maybe).

Unfortunately, the meto I acquired from a friend through the post a few years ago I threw out, so now i need a new batch.

I've just read through the PPH and saw no mention of meto? Is there a megathread on here?

Currently I'm taking 40mg of pantoprazole a day for reflux, it's been almost a month of taking this. I may be switching to something else soon - maybe an h2ra. Curious to know whether either of these are a substitute for meto?

There's a possibility i may be prescribed meto for an ongoing condition *fingers crossed* but if not: are PPIs or h2ras just as effective? And how much would i need? (I can't find the meto thread with the quantities and timeframe)..

Any help is appreciated. 💓

PPIs can likely aid, and it was included in the full version of the 2022 PPH along with meto and ondansetron.

You can try getting ondansetron but its also a prescribed medication like meto.

Is that the April 2022 version? bc that's the one i found online and am able to read on mobile.

But it says a PPI can be substituted for h2ras but both still need to be taken with an AE.

Also: PPIs work by turning off the acid pumps in the stomach (i can attest they make swallowing food more difficult due to drying out the throat/oesophagus, which can cause a feeling of dry reflux).

Whereas h2ras simply decreases the amount of acid the stomach produces.

Trying to research whether reduced stomach acid will lead to vomiting is difficult given that we're not talking about food that the body wants to get nutrients from....

Yeah it's the April 2022 version.

Meto is the main AE that's recommended but people have succeeded without it too. As long you are able to hold in lethal quantity in your stomach.

I've experienced the dry reflux you explained in taking PPIs. Idk if it was me anxious at that time.

If stomach isn't acidic and you get acid reflux/ vomiting atleast it won't hurt your throat much. I'm not sure if stomach produces acid to counter sn or how that works since it's all just like salty water and not like a food. People report burning sensation a lot

I may be wrong but I always thought the burning sensation is due to the extreme saltness. I would assume if I chug a 50-ml water with 25 grams of regular table salt (NaCL) it would burn too. I hope that is all there is to it and there is not a different type of bitterness :/

So if pph does not mention meto does that mean it's not necessary? Who added it?
