  • Hey Guest,

Today, OFCOM launched an official investigation into Sanctioned Suicide under the UK’s Online Safety Act. This has already made headlines across the UK.

What if, assuming you're a strong swimmer like I am, you just got into the ocean and started swimming away from shore without stopping? You could research rip currents to try and time it so you get sucked out super far by waves, and once you're a few miles out from shore, the odds of rescue are pretty low, right? Then you'll just die of hypothermia, drown/pass out and drown?

Any thoughts on this? A benefit of this method, if viable, is that your body won't be found, it can look like an accident. If you're a weak swimmer or don't like cold, you can invest in a drysuit and a kickboard or floatation device of some kind, that way you can make it out to the point of no return alright.

Also, if you're really scared of the drowning (doesn't seem that bad though, because you'll be high/unconscious from the hypothermia before actually drowning) just bring a gun to shoot yourself in the head once you're past the point of no return. I guess this method doubles as an untraceable way to do the gun method.

I am curious to hear what people's thoughts are on this. :D

Lastly, just a daily reminder that no amount of contemplation or forethought or discussion will make your suicide happen. Ultimately the only way to do it just to do it, nothing more nothing less.

About drowning, considered it myself for quite a while. All I researched turned me away from it.
If you just swim straight ahead into the ocean you will not pass out. You will exhaust your body perhaps for hours until you are too weak, then begins the drowning, which activates all the panic mode and survival instinct in your brain, not pleasant nor peaceful at all. Awful last moments and you won't be able to end it quick once there. Then the drowning itself, which is also quite painful and if you are in salty waters is like fire through your lungs. Not a nice way out.

Also hypothermia wouldn't kill you like that I'm pretty sure. From what I've read at such low temperatures water stings like a kinfe, keeps you very much awake and you sometimes die of a heart attack even before the drowning. That's for extreme cases of cold water. Not an expert on this just stopped once I realized there was little way to make it peaceful.

This guy did this
and made a list of similar threads, you could find more info there. Still wouldn't recommend it since it depends a lot on a great execution and just hoping you remain unconscious, which the brain won't make easy.

Also unless you are lucky with currents, you are unlikely to get very far into the ocean, so there are chances your body washes back ashore.

Also also I don't get your last sentence

TLDR: You die, but not very pleasant or painless method, definetly not easy to solvent the downsides. The sea is a mean bitch.

I think it's a decent idea. I think the time of day would be important. Also make sure that no one sees you head out as they may very well call you in to coast guard or something. The last sentence really hits. All this planning is just stalling, for me anyway. I know how to do it. I need to just go fucking do it. Pussy

This kinda made me laugh because all the effort to swim out and such and then bam, you just shoot yourself.

Trying to imagine a worse way to die than this. The sunburn would be off the charts, it would probably take days, the lack of sleep and constant exertion, dehydration kicks in due to the sunburn, every time you think you can just give in and die the SI kicks in and shoots you back to the top, you'd lose the capacity for an escape back to where you came from due to the exertion, I mean the more I think about this the worse it gets. I imagine it as roughly equivalent to 48 hours straight waterboarding on a hot grill but even that doesn't capture the sheer physical exhaustion.

I honestly think you'd end up praying for a shark to bite your leg off to end it faster.

I thought about something like this when I was younger like preteen/teen. Like exhausting myself swimming somewhere into deep water.

But then I remember reading about this person that swam for how long/how far? Days or smthin And yeah.... gave up on that idea.

Dang ok glad I read this. My last sentence is just an affirmation- thinking about suicide, or anything for that matter, doesn't do it. Doing the thing is what makes the thing get done. Maybe that's good for people on here who endlessly contemplate, to spur them to action, idk.

it is kinda funny

exactly, I'm new, but I feel like this board is one big stall. Not a one successful suicide account has yet been posted here lol

Can't blue ringed octopii be found on some beaches? They are extremely poisonous.

Edit :Forget it, they hurt really bad, but you'll survive.
