• Hey Guest,

We wanted to share a quick update with the community.

Over the past year, increased regulatory pressure in multiple regions like UK OFCOM and Australia's eSafety has led to higher operational costs, including infrastructure, security, and the need to work with more specialized service providers to keep the site online and stable.

If you value the community and would like to help support its continued operation, donations are greatly appreciated. If you wish to donate via Bank Transfer or other options, please open a ticket.

I called a crisis line twice today out of desperation because my OCD is unmanageable at the moment and in the conversations I had a few minutes ago the guy was constantly talking over me. Both of the people I spoke to just didn't listen at all, saying things that make no sense in regards to my situation because they're not listening.

This is why I refuse to call those lines. The reaffirment that no one gives a shit about me–to the point they speak over me in the middle of a sentence–really makes me want to CTB.

And I was going to complain and tell him, "Could you stop speaking over me please?" but I've had so many bad experiences with male mental health workers as it is it's just not worry dragging out the interaction and opening myself up to abuse.

I will say local crisis lines are particularly awful but lines like the samaritans are typically okay. Should have just called them ffs.

So fucking tempted to jump right now.

Never personally called them but mental health services in general in the UK are practically non-existent so it doesn't surprise me. Yeh Samaritans are meant to be the best from what I have heard. You could always call them now? They are open 24/7.

That's really unprofessional to be speaking over you like that, they should be letting you talk. I have mild OCD and I think stress makes it worse right? So try not to let this guy who shouldn't be in his job get to you. See what the Samaritans say first and then if they're no help maybe get a doctors appointment and tell them your symptoms are worsening and you need help managing them.

Do the people who answer the phones have supervisors? If so, I'd ask to speak to their supervisor and tell them your concerns about the person you were talking with. Even if that doesn't help you deal with your issues at hand, at least it may provide you with some type of satisfaction. Maybe it would make them get better help. Maybe if enough people did that, they would get competent help, or, at least, get rid of the incompetents.
