It seems to Me that many persons are Self-destructive: not behaving in a way that is healthy ( such as being politically apathetic as well as greedy). Do you think that genome plays a role?)

Being politically apathetic is healthy behavior. For most of human evolution you only had to concern yourself with your immediate family unit, and if they were fed and safe.

You are right that the individual's primary concern has always been their own survival and breeding. However without the extended family, or society, or indeed nation (derived from the term natal so implying a blood bond).... The individual or family can't easily survive or really exist. In the modern, Enlightened world we are under the illusion that you can somehow exist on your own, totally atomized and unaffected by the greater society, keeping to yourself and meeting all your own needs at Wal Mart. Needless to say throughout most of human history this hasn't been the case, groups of people with shared interests have always had to band together for survival. This goes back to "the social contract" which Rousseau described as offering an imperfect alternative to "the state of nature" which he regarded as being a war of every man against every man.
