Although in this case it was tragic.

His sister had jumped off the pier for fun/ making a video for social media i think?

he then jumped in in an effort to save her.

The sister was saved by surfers and the brother died.

Rip to the man and the sis must feel such guilt.

Anyway it reinforced the idea that its a viable method.

Im worried that i may hit a rock and break a leg or something on the edge of the pier.

I can swim but i wont fight it, il jump off the deep side and on a very rough sea day.

I estimate 5 or 6 minutes of drowning till i go unconsicous.

I wouldn't choose this method, it looks unreliable and is asking for suffering

you just said yourself the reason why this won't work. i've tried ctb by going over a dam thinking the current would pull me under and i would drown. your body does not let you. if you can swim you will swim whether you want to or not. SI does not fuck around with drowning. i'm not a very strong swimmer at all but i fought that current like it was nothing

I do think that most deaths by this method are accidental, it sounds difficult to go through with it if someone is purposely trying to die that way, and it also sounds like an awful method to me.
But anyway rest in peace. I personally don't view death as being tragic at all, as our only fate as humans is to die anyway. Our lives are all insignificant in the grand scheme of things. At least dying prevents all suffering that would have been experienced in the future. I envy those who are gone.

This is the worst thning about the drowning method - people want to jump in and save you, even if you are committing suicide. I met a woman in a 'Place of Safety' who had been wanting to jump off London Bridge and was 'rescued'. Worse if the hero jumps in after you and dies.

I was thinking this AM, what about jumping in river while on very strong Benzo. I have Alaprozam (Xanax) and I think it knocks me right out. I guess I need to test how quickly it knocks me out!

I can't swim so dying like this is my preferred method. The thing I like best is that if it's in a secluded enough spot and at night, no one will be able to rescue me.

It's irreversible. It's not something you can recover from. In deep waters and not being able to swim, I will drown. No ifs, ands or buts about it.

With other methods, there's room for "recovery " so to speak.

Even if you pull the trigger, you could end up blowing your face off and surviving. With hanging, you can pass out but remain alive. Exit bag, same thing. Ingesting substances might make you sick, but you're discoverd and revived. I read a story of a person who survived a 40 story jump over dry land. I think they landed on a car. And on and on.

But jumping into that water... The water will take you, no matter what.

It's the only method I can think of where overcoming SI is the only barrier. Don't have to worry about what happens if I fail. I'm sinking and drowning. That's a given.

im strongly considering it too because of the methods you listed.

Beware not to break or leg or hit your head or any rock or on the side off the pier and at night the water will be EXTREMLY cold.

You worded that so perfectly. Exactly what I have been thinking about lately — "that our lives are all insignificant in the grand scheme of things". Whether I attempt to do some good in this world or not, the world is indifferent to it.
