Hi guys. I'm new to this thread. Having suffered with Depression, Anxiety, Ocd, Bdd and Bpd for 30 years i have tried no end of antidepressants. I am currently on 40mg Prozac (fluoxetine) a few weeks in and my sex drive has gone to virtually nothing as i have no sensation down below. My man thinks its him and starting to affect our relationship. Any advice on improving things?

I think my last one did. I just can't pretend, not for myself, and certainly not for a partner. Most men my age want the whole deal. And it is so rare that i feel something that even slightly looks like wanting yo have sex, im better of alone. Or just look for an ennuch or someone who is just interested in cuddles

I don't get it. Are you answering the request for advice by advertising you're amazing and can provide a solution? Or are you being self-deprecating by saying your girlfriend only thought her sex drive was a zero, and it turned out after meeting you that could go even lower than she thought?

________________

@Tothemoonandback, the thing is, if the med turned it off, it's likely not to come back on until you quit the med, and even then there's no guarantee. Imo, men bond and maintain the bond physically. So it's something to consider for this relationship and any others down the road. Your health comes first, but the medicine is also causing harm. Only you can weigh out what's most important and what you're willing to risk. This is not an easy situation.

I'm not being mean! I really don't get it! And honestly, the comment was derailing and kind of trollish in the first place. It doesn't make sense, and OP has a genuine and rather intimate problem. Maybe OP has no issue with the post I was responding to, but it certainly threw me off.

Apologies if I'm now the one derailing. I'm sure I would have done better to have ignored and not taken the bait.

That amount of Prozac ruined it for me. Desensitisation and disassociation. It comes with the territory for some unfortunately. I stopped the drug because the 'side effects' weren't worth it for me.

I hate to break it to u but u have to stop the med or I've heard ginkgo biloba 120 mg helps reduce this side effect. If u are older then ginko won't help much. Or u have to get on hormone replacement with testosterone. I took Prozac for years wen young only 20 mg per day and used ginko and it did help improve function bc I could not orgasm easy on Prozac. 40 mg is a high dose and it contains flouride which is bad for u unfortunately. Despite what we are told sodium flouride is a cancer causer. Yes the same shit in the tap water and standard toothpaste brands. If u can please slowly taper off. It might help depression but u are trading it for new problems potentially. The gov doesn't want u having kids or having relationships and enjoying sex this is why they medicate as many pple as possible. Especially if u are white. They want to break down gender relations. I can't imagine how many relationships have probably broken down bc of the medicating.

I believe such trade offs are true of all such drugs. It's a cost/benefit thing. Remember, there's no such thing as 'side effects' they are really profound hormonal changes.

There's other ways to manage depression but it might require certain lifestyle changes. Depression can be caused by many things, shit childhood, dental amalgams, processed food, bad work environment, bad relationships.

I hate myself so much that I have to find something to feel good about but you're probably right, it's probably the latter.

Hey, I'm a 24 year old male thinking of starting testosterone replacement thearpy. Years of depression, anxiety, stress and the antidepressant medications I took has literally made me into an unhealthy eunuch. My libido is gone 99% of the time, and my testosterone levels are alarmly low for my age, but not low enough for run of the mill doctor to prescribe hormone replacement thearpy.

What can I do? I don't want to live like this. I dont feel like a guy anymore. I feel like a 100 year old grandpa but with the awkwardness of a 12 year old guy. This is hell for me.

Go to the anabolic store online they have testosterone u can inject. U might have to research a bit. I'm asking my buddy who orders online. He was going to a men's clinic but on top of that he was also ordering additional testosterone online from that store. It comes from Europe. The basic starter for someone who's new is plain old Testosterone E, name brand is Sustanon. It's 250 mg/mL. He can start off with half an ampule per week and go up after 4. Good luck :)

I can't do no sex or masturbation. I will fully admit that I avoid anti depressants over this. I've been masturbating every day since I was 15. I need my orgasms so I can relax and sleep before bed. I refuse to be chemically neutered.

SSRIs in general do this to you. Experiencing the same on citalopram. Honestly don't mind it lol. Nothing feels unnatural. Still function.

How long have you been on Prozac for? I've never been on that, but have been in Sertraline for a couple of years. At the risk of tmi, I went through one phase of it being harder to climax, taking longer.. but that was short lived. I get what you mean about less sensation.. but in my experience that does go away. I am not experienced with Prozac though.
If your man thinks it's him, can you reassure him in different ways? Like indulge whatever fetishes he has.. make loads of effort on stuff that's just about him.. etc etc. Sex is so much about what goes on in the mind.. even if you have not sensation down below' that doesn't effect giving a killer blow job.
I know this might not help you with not having a sex drive.. but feeling sexy is a big aphrodisiac. Im not trying to be weird or patronising but it's a subject I have a lot of interest in. Good luck xxx

I am too scared to mess around with that stuff on my own. I want to see a doctor who would help me with that type of stuff. Maybe after i can comfortable and knowledgeable enough, but right now i think a doctor who specializes in this thing is the best solution for me. I just don't know where to find such doctors, and how i'm going to afford it if it is too expensive.
