I live half a country away from my "family". They will have to fly out here to do some property related stuff. I was planning to go to a hotel about 5 hours away to cbt.... but it's out of the way for claiming the body. I've looked, there are mortuaries in that area where I can be cremated.

My second choice is to drive several days and end up about three hours away from them. Better for any post mortem stuff. My preference is to not drive around the country, but I don't want to be more of an inconvenience than this already will be.

Does anyone have thoughts to share?

If they will have to fly out to your area anyway to do property related things, then why not just ctb there? They will have go there anyway so it seems logical. If you're going to be cremated your ashes will be able to be taken back with them also.

I do not know where you are, but if you now are living in a foreign country from you, I guess your family will want return home your body, and that's expensive.

Second choice seems to me better, but it is just my humble opinion.
All the best.

Edit: Logistics stuffs matters.

Want to see the ocean one last time. Want to go out listening to waves.
Never do it in a place you own, most likely that will negatively impact the value.

That's very considerate of you to plan your ctb around others wellbeing. It's really up to you if you want to make the drive or not, I think you should do whatever will make the process easier for you since you'r accommodating them either way.

I agree with the other posters on here. It's up to you on what you decide, but it's better to make things more convenient for you and easier when you are planning to CTB.

Why? Then there are all sorts of unnecessary legal hurdles to getting me declared dead. I'm not running from the mob or interpol. I'm not looking to add stress to people's lives. Nor do I want to be thrown into some anonymous communal grave in a country I have nothing to do with.

Well, considering the situation I'd say it's in no proportion to the actual "inconvenience" of what you're planning. If you can help them out financially in this regard that'd be good, but unless it's absolutely necessary, I'd recommend the ocean and waves, and make yourself as comfortable as you can.

If your finances allow, you can prepay for your cremation, either at a funeral home where you plan to ctb, or one where you live.
Then you need to have the paperwork with you when you ctb, including proof that it is prepaid, or file it with a lawyer to be contacted in the event of your death. Contact information will then have to be provided. If you have a will, then your funeral instructions would be filed wherever the will is. The key is that someone must know where to find these things.
A delayed text or email is another way of conveying this information.
Just throwing out some ideas.

Thank you. I'm not sure at my age that swinging into a mortuary with a shopping list, with the dead look in my eyes isn't going to get me another visit from cops. But I am wondering how many airline miles my credit card would give me for my funeral... if I get really bored, i can calculate the fraction of a mile my purchases of sn & meto earned me. Capitalism is so fucking crass.
