After years of struggling with Dr's over ptsd, anxiety and depression today i finally got to see a specialist at a complex care centre!
For the first time in a long time I feel like someone listened to me. It took me having a melt down and saying that i felt like I'd have to drive my car into a bridge before someone took me seriously to actually realise how bad I feel. She's putting me on lithium, im kinda worried andI hope the side effects don't suck as much as people say. In also dreading coming off my amitriptyline which isn't compatible.

Lithium is well known for helping to reduce suicidal thoughts so I really hope it works for you in that sense. I never got any side effects from it myself.

First of all, I think it's awesome that you managed to ask for help and experienced someone actually listen to you.
I started taking Lithium half a year ago due to my bipolar disorder and I haven't noticed any side effects either.

I'm really hoping so, bit scared to see what's hiding under the mental health disorders too. I've felt so bad for so many years I don't remember what normal is anymore.

It's taken a lot of different meds and Dr's and a heck of a lot of tears to get there though. Mental health services in the UK suck.

hell yeah doctors actually acknowledging your struggles and doing something about it is such a good feeling, love that for you ( ゚^∀^゚) hope your treatment goes well!!!!

personally lithium was one of the worst meds i've ever taken and i hope i'll never have to take it again. that being said, i know a lot of people that felt like lithium really helped them get out of the trenches.

Damn right they do, tbh they've made me feel worse, more isolated, more like a lost cause. My experiences with them have been very disappointing & have made me feel more suicidal

Thanks! I'm hoping it's going to help, I'm at the point now where I've tried so many different meds that one more can't hurt.

I completely understand. If I hear read a book or do some mediation again I'll scream!
I only realised recently that not everyone thinks about suicide and when i realised that it blew my mind! I just thought that it was always there for everyone.
