For about a week now, I've been trying to ctb through ligature strangulation, the one the late anagram mentioned. I started out with a high school tassel, then when it started dismembering itself, I switched to a rope I removed from a broken and discarded shopping cart strap. I wear an athletic sock on my neck for padding.

So many times, I get the jugulars, but never the carotids. I feel like placement is the problem. I usually try it above the adam's apple, though I did try going lower a couple times. Whenever my adam's apple gets caught (if the rope ends up too low), the trachea clearly seems to be affected despite requiring more pressure than the carotids, as my breathing gets affected and I feel pain on the trachea. Also, I started trying it with an extra rope to make an extra half knot (so 3 knots total), to add even more pressure. All that did was made the exploding head feeling even stronger. I would imagine the amount of pressure is not the issue, but rather the placement of the ligature. I know how to feel the carotids with my fingers at least.

It's just frustrating. I always look forward to trying to ctb, since I had so much faith in this method, and I've been wanting to live my personal afterlife on the other side. But that last jump into the portal out of this life just has to be a difficult one. I really don't want to change methods, since no other method is as doable for me, both in planning and in practice.

Full suspension hanging works best if done properly, here's how to do it: make sure to use this basic noose knot "https://www.animatedknots.com/noose-knot" and NOT the hangman's noose knot, because the basic noose knot tightens easier, then you are going to put your neck on the knot and make sure the knot is at your ear situated so that it will tighten and move to the back of the neck, make sure to lubricate the rope with soap and oil, make sure it is thin like 6mm that has a breaking strength of 10,000 LBS, and it is a synthetic winch rope, the thinner the rope, the more chance of hitting the internal carotid arteries and vertebral arteries, make sure the rope is high above the adam's apple just below the jawline bone, and the knot situated to tighten to the top of the back of the neck, then you will be done, just make sure to test it once, don't use your full weight and also don't kick the chair yet, just slowly let yourself down and if the head exploding feeling happens, then keep slowly using more of your weight on the noose until you feel dizzy, and if you feel dizzy, then the method works and you can kick the chair.

I understand why you'd feel frustrated, it's just so dreadful to me how it's so difficult to be permanently free from this existence, I hope you find the relief you search for, I wish you the best.

Alright after further research, I think the problem is I'm not fast enough. I know that "jugulars only" feeling I described can happen if the knots aren't tied fast enough, like if I tie them tight too slowly. If that happens, then there will still be blood in the head when the carotids finally do go out. Them not being tight enough may also be a reason. Perhaps human error that seems minor when carrying out the act, but ends up with major differences in outcome that stop me from enjoying that sweet release.
