Finally lost enough weight to qualify for life insurance. It will only pay for suicide after the account is 2 years old. I thought getting the gastric sleeve would help me to become a happier person. I feel worse if anything. 12 months post of and 90 pounds down. I don't see it in the mirror. It is bizarre.

I guess it's both appropriate to say congratulations on the weight loss, and that I'm also sorry to hear you went through surgery only to not achieve what you were hoping for.

If you don't mind me asking, what has you feeling worse, and have you taken out the policy yet? If you haven't, I reccomend that you do so.

I have a feeling that once you take out the policy and know that your eventual "exit" will change the life of someone close to you, you'll start to feel both value in yourself and in your surgery.

Losing 90 pounds is still an accomplishment

Maybe you don't see it in the mirror because your brain is too conditioned/used to see the old body. How about before/after photos? In any case, the weighing machine can't be lying. This is definitely an achievement you can be proud of!

We attach our perception of self to the reflection of physical body and yet are we not more than that.?

I'm sorry that you suffer so much. It does seem as though in this life there is no escape from misery, it really is such a cruel existence. Best wishes.

This really resonates with me, was in same boat, I was over 400lbs, then through just some regular, light exercise have lost 140lbs so far, managed to get life insurance a year ago, so once that 2nd year is up, I'm outta here. But like you, I look in the mirror and don't see the difference, but other people will, you'll notice your old clothes are way too big for you too and you're having to buy new clothes and belts so keep at it my friend.
