During WWII the British soldiers going behind enemy lines were supplied with lethal pills (L-pills). It was the size of a pea and it had a glass ampoule covered in rubber to prevent it from accidentally breaking. It was filled with potassium cyanide

This is the best part… it was often shaped like a false tooth and carried in the soldiers mouth so that if he wanted to ctb for any reason he could bite down on it and crush the ampoule and his heart beat would quickly stop and brain death would occur within minutes
If he accidentally swallowed it, because of the casing it would harmlessly pass through the body
