Hello. i am aware this is so not the right forum for this question but i could use any advice.

i feel pretty stupid not knowing how to manage this at my age, but i really do not have any friends to ask right now. i am mostly sleeping outside, and i do not have much energy to run around the city at the moment. i am wondering how you girls make cheap pads last longer, maybe stacking them? i thought about tampons but i am way too scared of tss if i fall asleep for way too long without finding a restroom.

i also need to know how you deal with cramps when stuck outside. i have been using hot canned drinks from vending machines to press against my stomach. Thankfully it is getting warmer outside so the can doesn't cool down as fast. ibuprofen does not help me much, and i do not want to look for and start oxy again. it is too expensive anyway. are there any other meds or random things or groceries that help.

another thing is the trash. we have surprisingly few public trashcans here. people usually take their trash home with them. well, i cannot. carrying used products around in a plastic bag is stressful, so let me know how you dispose of them discreetly without feeling exposed. lastly i need to figure out how to avoid leaks ruining my only clothes. there are some vending machines for underwear that are awesome but they are often empty so uhh help. coin laundry is too expensive so i am just relying on dark layers and cheap underwear right now. any advice is appreciated.

how is asking for period advice embarrassing after all the shit i do.... hate myself sometimes

Hi Mio! I don't know if you're aware, but your thread only displays "You need to reply to this thread in order to see this content" message, which means almost no one will see your post, and even fewer will reply. Was that intentional? If so, that's fine, of course. But if not, and it's some kind of error or mistake, I can copy and paste the text of your post for everyone to see and reply to! Anyways, I wish you a good day!

you can stack pads, dear. i've done it before.
i've even done the makeshift toilet paper pads. certain teas can help as far as groceries- i'll have to look it up again.
don't be embarrassed. i've literally free bled too many times.
i think there are certain websites that offer free samples of period underwear, also extra pads etc. i don't know your location, won't ask out of privacy. just a tip. 🤍 i wish i had more to give you.
tss really isn't as common as you think, btw. <3

Ooh no. I'm sorry. I tried to hide it for guests. Didn't work. My bad.

Ugh, i don't care much if people know. Good luck chasing me if they try :D I'm in Yokohama JP.
Websites giving samples could be difficult since i don't have a home address or ID. But the other info is amazing! Thank you! I would love to know the tea name but i can for sure find it online knowing it exists now.

I feel so bad for you. Having periods is bad enough when you have somewhere to live. I wonder if places like food banks or charities can help. Are you registered with a doctor? Maybe they might know of charities- seeing as it's a pretty essential hygiene item.

As for disposal- most public places seem to have sanitary bins. Libraries, shoping centres etc.

I used to be homeless. Cutting puppy training pads can help. You get an entire pack for cheap and they can last forever, they are usually large squares or rectangles. You can cut them to stack one or two layers to the ideal size, they absorbe quite well. You'd use have to be careful about the spillage from the cut sides, to prevent this using toilet paper as a barrier each side is useful. Also wearing boxers when making pads from toilet paper is easier in my opinion to avoid spillage.
As for cramps I sadly don't know any solutions asides pushing through the pain and preying the medication on hand would do.
I'm sorry you are in this situation 🫂

thank you! going to doctors is difficult and risky at the moment given I don't have a ID, insurance, anything really. i haven't been to a doctor in years so i would have to research if it is even possible and safe for me. I worry if i show up there asking for help they will call social workers or the police to put me in the system. i really have to avoid that at all costs. While looking underage is a big plus for finding a roof, the police would be too much trouble to convince that I am not underage without my ID. I probably could convince the police but i dont want to test my luck and have enough worries.

Shopping centers and libraries do have bins in the bathrooms during the day and they are great. the problem is getting to them in the middle of the night. i mostly rely on convenience stores, but sometimes the staff gets mad if you use the bathrooms without buying stuff. it is just a bit of a hassle to navigate. they know us and often look away but they really aren't happy if we occupy their bathroom all the time. I can always find and roll up toilet paper but that is more of a last resort.

that puppy pad idea is actually genius. i never even thought of looking in the pet section for something like that. getting a huge pack and cutting them down sounds like exactly what i need to make things last longer. the toilet paper barrier and wearing boxers makes a lot of sense to keep everything secure. i will definitely go look for some cheap boxers and pads at donki or a hundred yen shop today. pushing through the cramps is pretty much my only option right now anyway so i am used to it. thank you so much for giving me actual practical advice. this is super helpful! I never thought of that!!!!!!!

Well when you have nothing, you learn to become resourceful. Which I'm sure you sadly know.
Sorry about the cramps, I didn't have enough money or access to internet so I couldn't update my medical card when I was on the streets. So when it was possible I would buy heat patches from the pharmacy. The ones for back pain, and use them at early morning to sleep. Keeps you warm too.
I had a thread for homelessness. I maybe should update it sometime.
In any case I'm sorry for your situation.
