Astral projection is so comforting that it makes death exciting. It's true what mystics have said for thousands of years. When we die our spirit passes to the astral plane. From there on...who knows. I believe in quantum theory and reincarnation, and that once we die we wake up in our beds in a parallel universe, over and over each time we die, as different life scenarios play out.... and then ultimately after the life scenarios are played out, we reincarnate as a totally different person. Just my beliefs. Quantum theory is fascinating though, and it totally makes sense. But the astral plane is very real. Your consciousness continues existing outside of your physical body in a dream-like state. The astral world is mostly a creation of your own individual consciousness. I can't wait to get there.

And again, that's a false statement and already debunked by actual science. Not pseudo-science.

Ok, well... let's try this one on for size.

My dad committed suicide when I was 18 years old. Many years later I went and saw a medium, a credible one, not some quack looking to line their pocket. Upon visiting with this woman, she connected spiritually, or telepathically, however you'd like to put it, with my deceased father. She described to me his physical appearance and the exact baseball cap he was wearing (which he always wore when he was alive)

She also was able to identify my dog who was with him. She gave me precise details about his death and told me how regretful he was of his action. She also brought up a few things that were symbolic of our relationship. Although I was shocked I was simultaneously pleased and comforted by her connection with him. My friend's father also came through for a brief moment.

I did not know this woman. I had never met her before, and had never spoken with her prior to meeting her. There is absolutely no possible way she could have known these things, especially in the detail that she did. I am not making this up and really have no reason to.

What was that again you were saying about there being nothing after death? Yeah, you can check that one at the door.

You are the one who is false. That articles falsely claims that consciousness is separate from energy, which it is not.

Alright. Provide some evidence for that claim.

I wasn't there when it happened, therefore I can't make any claims about that incident. But I prefer to argue with scientific facts instead of anecdotes. Telepathy also isn't a strong argument in a scientific discussion. There is a reason why this practice belongs to the category of pseudo-science. if you run tests with so-called telephatists in a very strict controlled scientific enviroment, they all fail. It's proven over and over again.

Hopefully consciousness is just the result of the electrical activity in our brains, and when we die that energy leaves the body in the form of heat, which is why the body becomes cold.

Well you weren't there when the Big Bang happened but you seem to chalk that up as a fact of reality.

So anyhow, this meeting with this woman DID happen, and as I said she knew details about my dad that even I myself did not know. She mentioned he was hiding an illness shortly before his death. That was one thing I thought she had got wrong out of the several that she got dead on. That left me a little skeptical, but when I visited my mother and told her about the medium and everything she said, including the concealed illness, my mom told me that my dad had told her just days before offing himself that he'd been diagnosed with testicular cancer. I had never known.

Look, the lady knew where my dad died, how he died, and who was there when he died. It was all DEAD ON accurate. Once again, this story is true, and I am not lying. I have no reason to. I'm telling it hoping that it might bring comfort to some of those in despair who fear the unknown after dying, and also because I get so damn sick of people who are so adamantly atheist. I'm not a religious person, and to be agnostic or atheist is quite alright. I'm not trying to come on this thread saying I've got the answers to the universe or afterlife. But there is without a doubt something beyond this life. And for you to keep saying "Ah yeah well, science dictates that nothing exists beyond this" is kinda indicative that you almost WANT for there to be nothing after this life.

You can say "well, I wasn't there and I don't know if you're telling the truth."

Fine, you weren't there, and you don't know if I'm telling the truth. And telepathy or spiritual connectivity probably falls under the spectrum of pseudo science because the majority of the people claiming to have these abilities are con artists, I don't doubt that for a moment.

You're the typical Sam Harris atheist though. "Ah yeah, we've run all the tests and it's conclusive in the scientific world that no afterlife exists." Yeah, no.

Sigh, that ignorance. There is actually evidence for the big bang, such as expanding galaxies and the cosmic microwave background. You gonna continue to act like an arrogant douche that doesn't know anything or can I expect a proper discussion here? That's why the scientific community refers to it as a theory. Because it already passed the scientific verification.

And I honestly couldn't care less about telepathy. You can give me all the details about that incident, it also could be completely made up. You could purposely leave out important information that would expose the whole thing as a scam, executed by that woman. They know how to bullshit people, that's why they're so successful. And that's why you need to be sceptical. And You aren't though, despite the fact that the scientific community refuted that practice as pseudo-science. Also, did you know that the US goverment actually run experiements with telepathy because they wanted to find out if it could be used for military purposes? And guess what, the experiment is classified as a complete failure because telepathists are nothing else than scammers.

https://www.atlasobscura.com/articl...onducted-telepathic-experiments-at-fort-meade

Here is a scientific report about that experiment, after they researched into it years later:

https://fas.org/irp/program/collect/air1995.pdf

Telepathy is nothing else than scam. That's why telepathists charge a lot of money for their services ususally. And if it really existed and would work, don't you think it would be used for the law enforcement to track down criminals and solve crimes? Nobody does that because telepathy belongs to the realms of fantasy.

But I'm telling you flat out, this woman knew EXACTLY what happens to my old man without ever having spoken to me or knowing me. Also knew my dog, and her description of my buddy's old man was pin point accurate as well. Gee, lucky guesses huh? About 10 of them I suppose. Yeah, but keep arguing.

And again, your story doesn't add any substance to the subject of an afterlife. As I said earlier, you could leave out very important information that would expose that woman as a scammer. And maybe you don't even want to realize that you got scammed, that's why you're accepting that experience as a fact. But as I said, these people are very talented at bullshitting people. And obviously, someone did a great job on you. As I said before, if telepathy really existed, you could use that talent to solve crimes with a 100% success rate. It would be used as by all secret services and the military for their advantage. But that only happens in science-fiction movies, weird, isn't it? For some reason, none of these so-called telepathists are succesfull in a strictly controlled, scientific test. And they all charge a shitload of money for their services, weird. And guess what, your buddy that claimed energy would be the same as conciousness dissapeared from the topic aswell after saying I'm wrong. And of course, completely ignored my question for evidence. Nothing but anecdotes.

You're the one that's arrogant. I guess she was scamming me by knowing that my dad committed suicide on Xmas eve. Lucky guess, there were 364 other days to have guessed.

I wonder how she knew that he blew him self off with a shotgun? Lucky guess.

Wonder how she knew what my dog looked like. Lucky guess. Yeah, peoples dogs are real easy to get info on. Every dog is listed in the white pages.

Wonder how she knew I played guitar, as communicated through my dad. I suppose the Iron Maiden shirt completely covered up under the hoodie really gave it away.

I wonder how she knew where it happened, and every single person who was there at the time it happened.

I get it I get it. Every test has been done and the scientific data is crystal clear - there's no afterlife.

But assuming my anecdote isn't made up, WHICH IT ISNT, it sort of overrides everything you come back with. And excuse me for getting worked up but yeah, I'd sure as hell like to believe that my dad came through, can see my every move and it in a better place than this garbage hole on earth. It's astounding to me how insecure people like you are to even consider that you might be wrong, that your way of thinking is so sound and flawless. When somebody comes through with a true story that could bring a great deal of light to people on here suffering and you try to crush it at every turn. Not even giving it a chance. Not even considering just a bit. You're a damn ugly person

Well to clear the air they don't verbally communicate with the dead. It isn't spoken out in plain English as I was told. Which makes sense because if you've ever taken DMT and broke through and communicated with beings through that, then you'd know what she's talking about.

I could leave out important info that would expose her as a scammer? What info could I leave out? I NEVER met this woman. Ever. Never talked to her a day in my life until I traveled to see her. I think you mean to say she could leave out important info that was expose her as a scammer to ME.

I don't know if you've ever taken DMT but I take it the way that this woman communicates with the dead is almost exactly like that. You meet these beings, and they sort of just plug into your head. You don't speak English with them.

Look I'm sorry you're disturbed and can't accept the good possibility that something may exist on the other side. Don't bring your pessimism onto others. I'm sorry that you need to US government and a picture of god eating lunch in his office talking on the telephone to even start to think that something greater exists. Have a nice suicide.

As I said again, I wasn't there and I can't investigate that incident solely based on your claims, which might be biased anyway. You know what I mean? That's why I say, it doesn't contribute to this discussion. If that women was right, why is there no confirmed telepathist in the whole world? Why do they all fail if you approach them in a scientific way? Why don't these people work for the goverment? Do you realize what kind of potential we're wasting here, if you're really right? You don't answer any of these questions but instead resort to repeat the same defense over and over again.

And let me get that straight, I'm insecure because I don't believe a random stranger when he tells me about their supernatural experience? That's interesting. Why should I believe you if there is no evidence and all evidence so far suggest that it's a scam? What's next, am I insecure because I don't believe anyone that claims to have experienced a successfull exorcism or communication with ghosts through ouija boards?

ok I'm sorry you're disturbed and can't accept the good possibility that something may exist on the other side.

I'm sorry but you seem to be disturbed if you're that easy to fool and also ignore all scientific evidence in the world. There is no point in continuing this discussion because you dismiss everything I say anyway, even if I provide evidence for claims.

Yes, meeting up with someone I've never met before and her telling me within a minute that my dad blew his head off with a shotgun of Christmas Eve really indicates that I'm soo, so, easily fooled. No doubt.

I like your whole schtick about the government testing out, or trying to test out telepathy. Uh, I don't think it works like they'd hope in any event. You can't just go to someone and ask them to solve a crime like Eric cartman in that south park episode where he hits his head and winds up in the hospital. You don't just get something that pops into your head that tells you something in verbal communication. And it isn't always clear either. It's quite out there, frankly.

I suggest you try DMT a couple of times. You might get the feel of what I mean when things sort of just "plug in" to you and upload information onto your hard drive

Uhm yes, it exactly implies it should work exactly like that if you're right. If that woman apparently was able to give extensive and accurate details about the suicide of your father, that means you can basically do everything with that ability. And these people claim to be able to do that, right? For example, you could call these people through a very expensive hotline right now and they start to tell you things about your life, without seeing you, without knowing you. That's how it works. We're talking about these kind of people here, thats the definition of telepathy. And you can easily verifiy their claims in a strict scientific experiment. They all failed so far. Even the US goverment had to learn that. But for some reason, no telepathist in the world has working abilities with the exception of that woman you met. Odd.

I'd trust the US government like I'd trust Casey Anthony as a baby sitter.

So I'm curious, in your eyes, how did this woman know this? Especially when my dad and I didn't share the same last name NOR did I even contact her before the visit. To make sure it was legit as possible I had a friend contact her for me and arrange the meeting. She didn't even know my name until I met her.

Please, explain.

You don't have to trust the US goverment. The American Institute For Research looked into that experiment and they described it as an expensive failure.

As I said, I can't answer that question because I can't investigate that incident solely based on your claims. I'm not trying to be offensive here but I can't even verify that it even happened.
But you said, that this woman was able to describe the relationship between you and your father, the method of his suicide - a shotgun, the location and time of his suicide and other details, she could describe how your dog looked like, she knew you play guitar. That's very accurate but when I refer to scientific experiments, you say it doesn't work like that and the answers are vague. But the answers you got are damn clear. So it should be possible to find a telepathist and confirm his ability with the scientific method, right?

Anyway, I'm out. It's impossible to come to a conclusion and we have left the fields of natural sciences around 15 posts ago. I'm not here to debate your personal experience and the topic is about the afterlife anyway. Bye.

People have clinically died in hospitals and then been revived, and they've all reported floating above their body in the corner of the room, and they could even recall things the doctors were saying WHILE they were clinically dead. Things that they otherwise could not have possibly had any way of knowing.
I know 1 person that got electrcuted and between 911 call and the ambulence started cpr it was 9min and 41 sec so he had been laying with out a heart beat no cpr for 10 min and was classified dead he got to spend something like 5 days at low body temp to save his brain whwn they finally woke him up he had about a 4y memory loss but it came back over a 2 week period all the way up to touching the wires... But he has no memory of out of body experience so i dont think it happends to ALL clinicaly dead

I love how you attempted to gain credibility by citing a medium in any capacity. A 'credible medium' is an oxymoron.

Pat on the back. I was ready to jump in properly, but you pretty much hit every nail on the head.

Being agnostic is a passing grade in this discussion. No one can technically know. I don't know why people regularly cite pseudo-science, anecdotal evidence and confirmation bias as something valid in this discussion.

The human mind is fully capable of fucking with you, and will do so regularly. It's immensely easy to trick people, and even easier to trick yourself.

yeah, you're right. I've have my own share of useless debate and people who want to believe in everything irrationally will keep doing so, they're just to blind to take into account the slightest possibility that they might be wrong. It's a coping and a self-defense mechanism.

If they want to believe that they'll get reincarnated into an atom of rubidium that will make up the primary material for the next-gen super BluRay gaming console, let them do so. Those who are rational will keep on being skeptic.
