36 meters is usually, but not always deadly.

So sad to hear this then I need either try to land head first or I need to choose another method

Is it better to land on hard ground or water? Or is that a stupid question?

On hard ground of course, especially if its only 36 meters.

Perhaps the sort of people who are ready and willing to end it by jumping are not the sort of people who feel the need to contribute to a forum like this ?

Interesting thought. Any thoughts on why that may be?

A 35 meters fall to solid ground is fatal in 99% of the cases if I remember correctly. And certainly you will get unconscious once you hit the ground so its basically painless.

The only thing you need to sort out is your survival instinct once you look down.

35 meters

= 114.829 feet

= (approx.) 10 stories

I'm fairly certain one needs a higher elevation to enter the 99% range....I'll try to look it up.

Edit (from megathread):

"As a rule of thumb (For almost 100% sure, immediately death):
100m (~328 feet) with landing on a hard surface.
200m (~656 feet) with landing on water."

I believe 35-36 meters is still in the "danger zone." Of course it "can" happen. It has happened at much, much lower heights.

Finally, at 35/6 meters, the result would most likely very much depend on the landing.

I live really near the seven bridge , lots if people have jumped from it but unsure if its high enough to die on impact though.

I am going to be jumping and hoping to attempt again in around 3 weeks, I don't talk much about it on the forum as it seems a subject that people are not so keen on. Its also a method that is very hit and miss, ie someone could die at 80 foot someone could survive at 150 foot,
It's a risky method.

Found this after a quick research:

Stone states that jumping from 150 feet (46 metres) or higher on land, and 250 feet (76 metres) or more on water, is 95% to 98% fatal.

It would surprise you how often people survive falls from 7 stories up. 150 feet is almost always lethal but below, there's always a chance.

If its a waterfall, probably deadly.

It's not a waterfall as aforementioned it's a bridge.

What speed would I hit the water at? If I jumped with someone would that increase or decrease chance of death?

Depends on whether its into water or ground. If theres ground underneath, its between 90%-100% effective I guess. Try to go headfirst. Or tie 3 meters of rope to the bridge and jump, this will sever your head and no one survives a severed head I reckon.

I don't believe an adult would die on impact from that height into water.

Not sure on speed.

I don't see how having a jump partner would make any difference at all.

Thanks for your reply.

Hard to find patrolled bridges higher than this where I am :/.

Darn.
