The vast majority of depression is caused by something concrete ie. physical disease, loneliness, bullying, trauma, substance abuse, being idle, etc. and not a 'chemical imbalance'. If you can fix or manage the real cause you'll do more for your depression than a pill ever would. A pill could give you a boost to get started (uplifting mood) but over time the effects dwindle and there are many side effects (zombied, low libido etc.).

My depression is the result of physical disease(s) and the resulting loneliness, i've been on around 8 different antidepressants and they've never worked for long, if at all. If I was physically healthy I wouldn't be depressed or lonely, I was 'happy' in the past and engaged in life.

In my experience it is caused by parasitic entities on a spiritual level. Almost no one believes in that sort of thing however, I often get brushed off or given a strange look, I suppose it depends on a persons subjective experiences. I received healing services from a number of different shamans and energy healers for a five year period. After repeatedly transforming my mood utilizing certain techniques, I can safely say entity removal and spiritual healing are very real.

I agree but then again there are schizophrenic people whose illness is caused purely by their body so I don't think its impossible that there are people who are depressed because they have some buggy brain or something. But then again my depression is caused by external stuff for sure.

Chemical imbalance was dreamt up by psychiatrists who didn't want it to be their fault.

That's why everyone tries to tell you not to kill yourself, but disappear once you look like you're getting better. Nobody wants it to be their fault.

My schizophrenia symptoms subsided almost entirely after receiving healing treatments.

The "chemical imbalance" may very well exist to an uncertain agree, but is more of an indicator of rather than a symptom, much less the root cause of, social pathology.

I'll be honest I don't know a lot about schizophrenia and just recently I found out some people used LSD to cure themselves . So I think that this chemical imbalance thing is possible in some way. Human bodies are very complex thing and I wouldn't be surprised that some error in the body could be triggering depression. This should be considered at least if you don't understand why you are sad and if you don't have any external problems. I don't believe there are entities that are causing this because I don't see proof for that but I find that interesting.

The only proof I have about supernatural experiences are personal. How much of it is solely subjective and determined by an individuals beliefs is unclear. Anything scientific automatically scoffs at the idea of some sort of parasitic, alien, soul sucking, other dimensional creature and so I'm guessing there are very few if any controlled experiments regarding this phenomena. All I know is that I try to have an open mind about everything in this world and if one of the benefits to having an open mind is relief from depression without the use of pharmaceuticals, I'm all about it.
