After suffering from mental illness, going through a breakup, my cat dying and my best friend blocking me. I got into a rut like we all do. I decided to go for a walk and just listen to music instead of focusing on where I'm going I just focused on my songs. I ended up walking ten miles! I felt so happy and proud of myself for doing this! I know I'm going to get into another rut but I think this was a great step today and I'm happy with myself❤ I got suicidal thoughts and couldn't stop thinking of my ex and my cat but I accepted the thoughts and just focused on hitting my feet hard into the ground and push myself 485D2D1E D813 463F A7E6 243C6247C52E

I'm glad it's helped you before! I do understand that being told to exercise is pretty condescending but it has helped me

That's awesome, so proud of you! I'm hoping to push myself to do something similar.

Thankyou so much honestly buddy, it felt amazing to just leave these four walls and walk. Without caring where, I headed up into the mountains and just took it all in. C77059F2 4DD2 4853 BAF5 C8CC30CBA76F

I didn't even think of it as exercise it was just something I had to do, just keep walking till all the mad feelings inside were quiet for a while

I'm glad it helped you! I know for me anyways that it's easier to self harm and just lay in bed but this was a better choice and I was pretty happy with myself. I think that's the main thing that I was happy with myself and wasn't causing any harm

You should take a hot shower, it'll help your muscles not be sore tomorrow

I did this around 9pm as soon as I got home, put on creams and gave myself a shave although this was just for hygiene I never knew this would help my muscles

Ah yes, a walk... I have never appreciated them enough. Sadly I don't have them anymore... haven't left my apartment for a month already... and probably won't leave it for months now... such a shame.

Those pictures look beautiful. I envy you immensly my friend, you seem to live in a rather rural area... I wish I was there.

That's how I deal with shit too - go for a walk.
My walks are specific, though - there's this long as fuck street that takes me 3 hours to complete, not including going to it. What I do to kill time is set a timer for, say, an hour, and go through that street. I walk till the timer rings and then walk back.
Bam! 2 hours gone.
Great for weekends where I have nothing to do and rolled up the rest of my tobacco.

Yeah I live in Ireland, it's like this almost everywhere tbh!

I try to walk pretty fast if I'm upset but I've noticed that I walk slower when I'm feeling content. As I know a lot of people with anger issues trying running and stomp their feet into the ground

Walking is my go to, in highschool I walked 220 miles from Mississauga to Owen Sound to get over my first girlfriend leaving me

Nice! What app is that? I use Locus Map for Android. Sometimes I want to pull a Forest Gump, and just walk.

Walking is excellent medicine if you can do it. It's like a moving meditation and processes stress and agitation whilst getting you sunshine and vitamin D plus exercise and burning calories. I miss walking a lot but I'm not really well enough to get very far these days.

Breakups are so so tough but I'm happy that you turned it into a positive, I'm still trying to get over my ex but it hurts when someone no longer loves you back

Yeah it's a win win really, however finding the motivation can be difficult sometimes. I hope you become well enough to go for a walk ❤️

I acted on impulse and bought an Apple Watch so this is the standard app that comes with it. I know other people use fit bits and things. Also. Run forest, run
