I haven't been able to find a job in over 6 months and have become a burden to my family. No one is hiring in my stupid little town, and I have 0 useful skills, something pathetic for me at my age. I feel like it would be best if I just disappeared, Especially with the economic future of my country looking so bleak. Even if I got a job, I wouldn't find anything good, and women at my age aren't interested in men with shit jobs that can't support families.

I just needed to vent. I don't care if anyone sees this.

Are there any skills you would want to learn?

If you're doing all you reasonably can to find work then you don't have to blame yourself though it's understandable to feel that way especially if you're getting heat from your fanily. Productive participation in society is a two-way street after all.

I have a few skills I'd like to learn, but doing so in earnest requires money to pay for a trade school, or lucking out on an apprenticeship (no trade jobs in my town are accepting new apprentices) which puts me back at square one. I'm not getting heat from my family, they're understanding, but in the end, I still feel the way I do.

Having a job sucks. It doesn't make life better. And who cares what women are interested in. If you meet a good woman who cares about you, she won't care if you're down on your luck. And you aren't going to meet her anyway because she doesn't exist

That's not what you say to someone suffering from being unemployed. Who cares what women are interested in? Someone who wants to be in a relationship with one should! Being unemployed will generally be a turn-off to someone looking for a partner.

Hmm. Well if continuing to look seems to give you slim odds of finding a job, giving up completely gives you even less odds at 0. Eventually you overwhelm the numbers game enough and you get something for the time being.

I agree with Hystearical. The more you look, the better the odds are you will find something to get you in the proverbial door. Expand your search area? Increases the odds. Expand what you're prepared to do? Really increases the odds. LIfe is really nothing but playing the odds (oh gawd....not this old guy with his experience bullshit).

Not sure where you live but check day labourer, resource based grunt work, hell, even guys who deliver and pick-up porta-potties are making around $30/hr because no one wants to do it - and all you need is a driver's license and a strong stomach. My advice is to forget about finding a job that you want to do; first, get any job, then look around for what you like - or at least like better than what you are doing at the first job. It is much easier to get a job if you already have one.

Also, give your family some credit. They may not consider you a burden. I know lots of families where the "attempt" even if it results in failure is more valued than not trying at all.

Finally, if a potential spouse cannot see you as a quality person without having a good job, then that is not a life-partner but just another asset. They would leave the instant things get hard or there is a down-turn in your socio-economic status. Just like a fancy car or boat will get repossessed (i.e. leave) if you hit a difficult time, the spouse would be gone also. Find someone who sees you as a good person working hard to get better. I'm a lawyer with my own firm now, but prior to that I worked heavy construction, bounced at a night-club and even cleaned crew shacks and bathrooms at remote work sites (jeez, that really sucked - seeing crotch spiders in the showers and lord knows what in the toilets).

So, feel sorry for yourself this week-end, then first thing Monday, get up, dust yourself off and see if you can find a job that sucks - remember, it's only a stepping stone to something better. You got this.

im drunk af havent had a job for longer. BIG burden on my family. They won't even allow me home lol i'm at my grandmas who doesn't want me here, I just wanted to say women are a non-issue. most women have such high standards it would not matter if you had a job or not unless it was a decent status job like an entrepreneur. which is what I'm doing! have you considered AI. AI is such a marketable skill right now. it's very easy to do. just build a website with ChatGPT or codex. Apply to companies and say, hey i built this app and this website with chatgpt and codex. So many high value college graduates are QUITTING right now because they are sick of AI. But us? Us unskilled losers? Were top of the market! They actually WANT us these days! Just learn how to code with AI and you'll be fine.
P.s. if you learned how to code the long way I just want to say I am sorry this is such a shitty time to be alive

i regret to tell you this but you basically cant go anywhere in life without taking on some debt especially in the USA. literally everyone is in debt, whether its student loans, credit card usury, or some other bullshit. its just the name of the game especially for zoomers like myself. however you can kinda choose how hard you get fucked by banks, for example, FAFSA interest rates are completely static and arent variable and quite low (6% - 9% in my experience) so the man whos in charge of your loan cant decide to raise your interest rate to 15% or some shit and rob you blind because of his groups own poor decisions.
life sucks and the economy sucks but we arent in complete serfdom yet. for example, community colleges are good way to climb yourself up the socioeconomic ladder especially in states like california with that op university of california system, where you could transfer to really good schools like UCLA or berkeley. even if you arent in california you could transfer to the best state school you have with pretty relative ease. there are some state schools that are land grant and/or with alternative credit options that makes the fucking you get much more gentle, not to mention scholarships, with some being pretty much free money, etc. also, the military completely bypasses all of this (if you arent a dysgenic sperg like myself and cant go) and you get it for free although you might die for israel which is more humiliating and pathetic than suicide will ever be. this of course, will all sound stupid if you arent american but i bet your country has some similar options.
i advise you, if you arent going to ctb, is to just have some motion. this doesnt even mean job. imo, you should go to community college, its what i did and it saved so much time, money and effort and im going to graduate at a school with a bachelors earlier than my peers. also, if you go to community college you could work there and the wages are much better than fucking mcdonalds. its $20/hr for me and you can use it to pay for your loans. i was a computer science tutor at my old cc and it was 100% worth it, i picked my own hours and got to do what i loved doing. i also have a friend whos a math tutor and hes in the same boat and he also really likes it.
again, MOTION. being stationary is death. wageslaving is cancer, i agree. do CC instead, military (national guard, airforce), anything than just sitting on your ass because its torture.

good luck out there bro

I really hate my job, it's shift work and minimum wage.

Evenings and weekends too.

I'm going to start faceless digital marketing in the hope it works. Maybe you can give it a go too and it will occupy your mind? Happy to explain what I've learnt so far if you like..and there's so much guidance AI can give these days

It's not a lot but it may motivate you

Not having a job makes people feel low. I've been there but it doesn't make you a unworthy person.

Hugs 🫂
