It's unsettling how kids are turning out nowadays

So, I frequently play online games, fortnite, among us and roblox to name a few, and naturally I frequently come accross children when playing these games. Some as young as 8-9 yrs old. One thing I've noticed is that they seem to get meaner and meaner. More than often I find that they make fun of me or other random players for their own amusement and it's unsettling to say it the least. They're children! They're supposed to play and have fun, not mock other people! And yes, you could say they're just children being children, but if they're already like this at this young I don't dare to even imagine how they'll turn out as adults. I'm not saying that they'll all turn out badly, but I bet a lot of them will. Then again I can't blame them for growing up in such a shitty society to begin with. It really does say something about society, and it's quite chilling to say it the least.

Kids can be cruel as well and having poor role models doesn't help. Also they have a certain anonymity online, and they take full advantage of it. Nobody knows what's really going on in their little minds. It's just a really shitty world right now, and maybe it is their only way to vent.

Kids have definitely gotten less respectful, I saw a kid at Walmart and he flipped me off for no reason. It's like common sense is rarer by the years.

Children have always been cruel to each other. In most cases, a good chunk of them will eventually grow out of that behaviour by adulthood.

In my experience kids have always been mean, particularly if someone appears different or vulnerable. The difference now is that social media gives them additional opportunities to practise it. Most humans will be as evil as they think society will allow. You only have to look at wpd (if you haven't, I really advise you don't) to see that.

I fail to see the correlation. Most people do not enjoy wpd (watch people die, I had to google it), and I'm not sure if those who do, do it because they are "evil".
On the contrary many seek out religion and other world views, imposing additional restrictions on themselves to feel good.

I grew up under quite bad circumstances, and in my experience kids are less mean nowadays. I don't think anyone got reliable statistics though.

I'm talking about the videos on wpd (again I advise people who've never seen it not to go there, it will damage you). People doing unspeakable things to other people while others look on, chatting and laughing. Mankind is evil deep down and only needs approval to show it

Then I understand what kind of content you're talking about. I agree, that is evil.
I'd like to once again remind people, though, that most people do not enjoy such content. Most people agree that it is evil, and do their best trying to avoid it.
I could find it and legally view it without any kind of repercussion, but am fully content with just knowing the meaning of the acronym.

It has little to do with the topic of kids becoming meaner, or the general population at large.

I blame the pandemic, so much critical social development time for these kids was spent indoors probably with nothing to interact with but screens and their parents. Then again it's not like anything could really have been done to mitigate this.

I say it's smart devices and unlimited access to the Internet. Working at retail you see a lot of repeat customers and the ones with young kids who didn't bring their phone/tablet on their cart end up screaming, hopping in place, and say how they hate everyone and everything.

Also, smart devices are often more addicting than talking to a human being. It removes some of our rational filter and makes us say things we wouldn't in real life.

The worst part is when children are on these devices (unless equipped with a microphone), they are insanely quiet and parents don't feel like intervening because it brings a temporary sense of peace. As soon as those devices are gone though...
