In the state of shock of what happened

Short bio: I suffered from a severe personality disorder, which got cured thanks to a new-state-of-the art treatment, so I'm "only" a severe neurotic now. However, my primary reason for CTB is Scheuermann's disease, a genetic disease of the spine that causes progressive chronic back/neck/arm pain if not treated early.

This week my sister (who suffered from another severe genetic disease) has announced that she will never have children. Just like me. What's more, it was her independent decision unrelated to mine. This is extremely major and positive piece of news. It means that decades and possibly hundreds of years of intergenerational trauma and genetic diseases in our branch of family are finally over. No more suffering humans. I don't know about the future of the second branch in our family (my aunt's family), where small children are also diseased. But as far as our branch is concerned, it is over.

The suffering in my family has been such that both of our parents and even more conservative grandma immediately approved of her decision.

It is not a victory for us – last generation, but still a sweeping victory for our family and for our never-to-be-born children.

Maybe I'm wrong, it might be a different procedure. I'm a male, so I only know about vasectomy.

It is us who don't want to have any children, but the reason is intergenerational trauma and genetic diseases, which would be passed onto yet another generation

That is great to hear. Bringing life into this world is such an selfish and tragic thing, and to never bring life here would prevent so much unnecessary suffering and problems. There is never any need to create life, it can never be beneficial and I believe that it's certainly always better to not exist.

What about that state of the art treatment? How did it work if you don't mind telling?

It was called TFP and it made a quite dramatic change. I no longer have PD, I improved to being a neurotic. I started going to college, had work, had friends, had a girlfriend, had some hobbies. It is not a change to the level of someone who had a good childhood by default, but it is quite a dramatic change from the deep suffering that PD is, as we know it. But it doesn't matter now... I have another, physical disease... life is fun. Decades of suffering in my life for nothing...

If you're asking more about the technical aspect of the treatment, it is a twice-weekly treatment that takes several years, and it is aimed at integrating your emotions and building your identity. It is also difficult, because it requires you to start going to work/school and other things long before you feel it's within your capabilities.
