Italy, sodium nitrate alarm among young people: 3 suicides and 1 homicide in 4 months - Notizioso
Three young people dead after taking sodium nitrite. Apparently there is no connection between the victims other than the substance they took.
www.notizioso.it
Sodium nitrite was the substance that three young people used to take their own lives. In all three cases, the poison was bought online. The latest victim is Matteo Cecconi, a student from Bassano del Grappa. Their deaths occurred in the space of a few months, between December and April. Strange circumstances, perhaps just coincidences, but the prosecutors want to get to the bottom of it. The hypothesis of crime is incitement to suicide.
Let's start from the beginning when this trail of deaths began. Let's be clear, at the moment there is no connection between the three victims, but they have in common their young age, the suicide (at least in two of the three cases) and the substance used to carry out their plan: sodium nitrite. Sodium nitrite is commonly used in the food industry, but it only takes a few grams to kill a person.
Fabio's suicide with sodium nitrite
Fabio is 19 years old and lives in Latina. He cultivates a passion for theatre. A passion which his parents have never hindered. In short, this is not a case like the one in the film "Dead Poets Society". She has completed her studies. Things seem to be going well. Certainly, no one in the family can imagine that Fabio has chosen to end it all.The boy buys the poison online, he has already figured out how to use it. The young man has chosen to die, but not at home. Perhaps he does not want his parents to enter his room and find him lifeless. He buys a train ticket to Rome and books a room at the Hotel Giglio dell'Opera, a short walk from Termini station.
He tells his parents that he will spend a few days with a friend. He lies! Fabio makes two videos, one for his parents, the other for his friends. It is his farewell message.
He is ready, there are no second thoughts. He mixes the substance in a glass of water. He wants to make sure that he dies, that's why he checks it with a tester bought for the occasion. Nothing is left to chance. He prepares the solution. He drinks it and lies on the bed waiting for death to arrive.
The death of two other young people
In February, another young man dies. He is a student from Rome, 19 years old. He books a room in a B&B. He prepares the poisonous potion, swallows it. The young man feels ill, finds the strength to call 118. An ambulance rushes to the scene, but it is too late for the student. The latest victim, at least of those known, is a boy from Bassano del Grappa. Matteo Cecconi, who had just turned 18, died on 11 April.
He was attending lessons from home. During the change between the first and second hour, he did not reconnect with the class. When he returned, his father found him dead in his room.
According to the investigations, Matteo Cecconi had bought two packs of Malox, a medicine he had never used, at the pharmacy.
The strangest thing, which links him to the other two victims, is the purchase of sodium nitrate. A purchase made online. Matteo Cecconi's parents do not believe he committed suicide. They consider it an unlikely hypothesis. It is their belief that Matteo took part in a game that was bigger than himself. Giovanni Pipeschi, the public prosecutor of Vicenza, is dealing with the case.
The sodium nitrite also used by Alessandro Asoli
In the last months, sodium nitrite is the absolute protagonist of the crime news. Think of the murder in Ceretolo di Casalecchio di Reno. This was the substance used last 16 April by Alessandro Asoli to poison his mother and his partner, Loreno Grimandi. Also, in this case, the substance that Alessandro Asoli mixed in a dish of pasta was bought online. It is clear that we are talking about a very different case, but two things remain the substance used and the method of purchase. At this point, the question is: is there someone who in some way promotes, perhaps via social networks, the purchase and use of this poison? This is what the judiciary wants to find out.
