I don't think so, even on the clearnet you can find god awful sites full of the most graphic torture or gore and shit like that. This site is definitely very unique and that's why certain media outlets use it for shock factor, but in the grand scheme of things I don't think it's even all that surprising... hopefully that will continue as the world grows more empathetic towards suicidal people instead of keeping it as taboo as it still is

I found it hilarious that when the NYT ran their hit piece where they doxxed our former admins, they justified themselves by quoting what they apparently considered especially egregious content. Most of it was of the "I hope you find peace, whatever you decide" variety. The "worst" of the lot was someone expressing their opinion that it was "brave" of a user to face down their SI in a particular manner.

I was kind of like, "That? You're freaking out over that? Have you ever met YouTube …?" Seriously, find any video featuring a young, pretty trans woman, especially if she's documenting her transition, and the comment section goes:

One fraction of life that this was blown out of proportion : Modern Warfare 2 online play. You used to get people like that but at the same time everyone was laughing and having a good time. It was usually smack talking and some people being clowns but it wasn't like current day YouTube comments or anything close to it. Things changed for the worse anyways.

Yeah, its wild; another point that gets frequently brought up is how people here derive pleasure from other people's suffering; well, what about the times when a creep PM's you on Reddit asking you to film yourself cutting in exchange for money? But I guess a "suicide cult" draws a lot more clicks...

I've heard a lot of pretty wild stuff about Discord as well, but I can't really comment on that since I never really use it.

For people living a normal life without suicide thoughts, this site must be the weird as fuck. My brother in 2022 caught her daughter and her friend talking about suicide on whatsapp and got pretty angry, and broke her phone. So imagine someone like him seeing this forum.
My brother looks like an instagram model, with a decent career, and decent money. I always avoid be around him because I become totally invisible beside him.
So someone like him would never understand suicidal people like us, they would find this forum the cringest thing ever.

Not at all. You literally never hear of SaSu on the clearweb. You can find some articles talking about it, but again, no one on YT or twitter from what I've seen really about it. I've seen more videos on Tsuki Project while you only have the Tentacrul video and about a dozen other vids debunking that. You'd think everyone would be talking about SaSu once it was uncovered by Tentacrul, but nope!

We're essentially invisible in the grand scheme of things, esp when most normies and media treat it as "He who shall not be named".

Not even close, this site to me is pretty normal, it's just that we regularly talk about something which is considered taboo to talk about so freely in real life. There's some fucked up websites if you can find if you go looking for them. I used to sometimes go digging around TOR for cool sites until I found one which shook me and I had to stop doing for a bit because it was disturbing and a bit too close to home which ended up traumatizing me for a bit. Most onion sites tend to be honeypots or scams, or stuff like that so I just tell myself it was fake. Point is, this site is tame compared to certain other sites, it's just that this site is a lot more popular and is always watched by certain people which puts it in the public eye.
